  1. this is my first real snowstorm back with the DC crew in a LONG time - i am pumped.
  2. my mark now is the crane on 30th and M St NW in Georgetown, which is 5 blocks away - it is no longer visible.
  3. roads are covered here along Penn Ave in Foggy Bottom - mod/heavy snow, 30.6F

  5. i've seen some cherry blossoms in the past few days as well - bout to say "bye bye" to them for a lil while

  9. DCA finishes October 11th with a high of 83 and low of 70, making it the 5th straight day of lows of 70+ (a record for October). It has finally dropped below 70F now for the first time since 10am on Saturday, Oct 6th. Remarkable.

  11. 2.19" on Sunday in West End, DC, with 0.19" on Saturday and 4.88" on Friday - that gives us 7.26" since Friday. Just ridiculous amounts of rain here since really May.

  13. My PWS topped out at 99, but the nastiest ob was earlier was 93.6/79 for a heat index of 111.4F.
  14. looks like DCA briefly had an ob of 90/79 - the 11am ob was 90/78.
  15. jfc absolutely brutal out - DCA is 88/77 rn, my apt in downtown DC is at 95/77 for a heat index of 110F.

  17. Dude Arctic sea ice is flat-lining in the middle of freaking January:
  18. Some good data from one of our own: It's kind of insane that over half of the days of 2016 set daily records for low sea ice. I mean, can you imagine if there were a particular station that recorded daily record highs for 200 days of a particular year? Alarm bells would be blaring far and wide... Also, I found this graph PARTICULARLY troubling (from Svalbard, Norway):
