Down to 52 here. Getting close to having to turn the heat on! I noticed today that the trees are no longer the uniform deep green, and you can start seeing more muted greens and somewhat orangish hues mixed in on the tops. It's coming!

We were near BW/ the Mount Washington hotel on Sunday and spotted a healthy female bear frolicking with three cubs. So awesome
There’s one with 3 cubs that’s been hanging around my yard. They’re awesome to watch. We see them almost every day. Most of our renters love seeing, then a few weeks ago some idiot sent me an angry email saying “the bears gotta go.” Some people’s stupidity is beyond words. Especially when you consider my “yard” is a sliver of private land surrounded by the Ammonoosuc river and National Forest.

Question. My grill is just getting destroyed by the bears. This morning I found it in pieces dragged off the deck, even though I had let it burn, cleaned and removed the grease pan. Any tricks that might keep those little buggers away before it's destroyed? There's a mommy with 3 cubs that seems to have taken up residence at my house and some males roam the area quite a bit too... They are relentless

Anyone here have sling tv or any other streaming type services?
We priced out cable for our condo today and it came to about 150$ which we can’t afford and don’t really want to pay that price anyway.
Im basically interested in live sports and things like that, which supposedly sling offers.
Thoughts?
wed also have to get internet somewhere as well
Yep. We use Roku with Direct TV Now. YouTube TV us also a good option as others have mentioned. In reality though the service we use the most is Hulu

Speaking of gondolas, it's been fun to watch them put in the new gondola at Bretton Woods. It's a lot of work! I'm generally not a fan of gondolas for skiing but it will be nice to have the extra lift.
Also, the bears are out of control. 4 sightings today just next to my house including one with 3 cubs

I just saw that. Wonder if we can get an MCS to dive more southward than southeastward and get us in the Lakes Region? I doubt it but will have to watch upstream this PM
Sign me up for things going south. We had our share last night!

Might even have a little hail in it.
Freezing levels are a little high (13.8 kft on the 18z special RAOB), but I would say some dimes possible in that.
It did. Fairly large chunks but not a lot of them. Pretty wild wind and thunder though. And now we have no power. Grrrrr....

Holy loud thunder. It's pitch black to my West

Storm looks ova up here. Total 1.20" Month 3.25" Seems like the axis of heavier rain was further SE than models had it yesterday but first good soak since April 25th. Now onto the heat..
Thank goodness. Got 0.7" here instead of the 3-5 inches they had predicted. I do not need flooding with about 20 check-ins in the next 5 days

Hyperbole.
Even the year I had frost on July 31 in Ft. Kent had a 6-week growing season - actually 2 days longer than that.I was actually just doing a walk around with my new landscape designer, and I was showing him the various burnt up annuals that I planted, and he mentioned that annuals are really a challenge here in general. Could do fine, but he said that some years this area experience occasional frosts throughout the summer, so that sensitive plantings will look awful all summer long - get burned, recover, get burned. He's pushing for all native plantings which makes sense. They can take a this "on and off" growing season without any problems.

Pretty cold in the house too?
Lol. That's actually my unheated greenhouse. Needless to say, heat has been on in the house.

Already down into the 30s. Should be the last for a while?

Another 32F low this morning. On that note, I had a meeting with a landscape designer early in the week who knows the area well, and said my spot is the absolute coldest around here and I should stick to zone 2-3 plantings, anything above that is doomed. She said it's the combination of being a low spot in a high elevation and the river. Yey me, nothing grows!

He was trying to get at the grease and drippings.
Nah. He was just trying to be helpful and clean the grill. Our bears are very helpful critters.
In Boston tonight. Feels sweltering down here compared to home. Got upgraded to the Presidential Suite at the Sheraton; holy cow it's bigger than our house lol

1.67" the total here. Good soak

Talk about a Wedding Crasher. When you rent out your property for those weddings this summer wonder if he'll show up?
They did for our wedding... but they are pretty shy. Won't show up while there's 50 people hanging out in the yard.

Well, I'm still alive lol - no tornado but these downpours mean business. 1.4" so far. Gene, let's fill your pond up...

Is that map current??? I'm at 58.8 and its pretty chilly out

Felt summery today with a high of 84.9, but reasonable dews in the 50s. We probably won't get the 40F swing tonight, we are just now about to slip into the 50s. I love heat waves in the mountains. It's so relative. Then a chance of frost on Thursday lol
