Yea, I totally get that. As a father of 4 kids and a lot of friends over 50 years old, I worry myself when someone goes quiet. That was never my intention. Had I had known at any time that my absence was going to be this long I would have dropped a line. I was really glad when WxUSAF emailed me a few months ago honestly. I had already been thinking that I'm indirectly (or directly) causing people to have dark thoughts about my whereabouts because I'm the same exact way with other people.

Kudos to you Bob.  Youre entitled to your life despite how other may feel about wanting your input here.  Speaking of dark thoughts, anyone ever hear anything from Showmethesnow?

I'm a chart guy, so for fun, I plotted the "near DC" 2m temp at 18Z for hours 0 - 384, according to the 18z gfs.  Decently chilly for days 7 - 14.  Not sure what happens between 336 and 360, but it wasn't pretty.

almost 3 days of freezing or below, Id take that.  We need to get the ground cold if we want any of the potential frozen to stick around

It's not really a coup though other guidance has been hitting that also.  We had 2 euro op runs...the ensembles this run, and there is "some" degree of support on the GEFS.  This is not high probability yet but its not praying for some obscure model to score a coup either.  Its a legit threat, and definitely the best one we have had since mid December.

this will be ruled as banter but..  the only coup going on right now is in Congress

  4. saw some light snow to grapple in Warrenton about 2 hours ago. lasted all of 3 mins but it was the first snow of the season here.  Side note, this was my second snow fall of the season for me as I got buried with 6" in Albuquerque NM at the end of October when I was moving my mom back east.

70 years of data is not unreliable.  I don't appreciate you always criticizing my work.

open your mind Luke..  use the force.  i understood what PSU was getting at.  lets not create hostile environments already.  Its only September!  Save that for late February when the sun angle folks start to raise their voice.

I am very happy for you with all that rain, but regional stats. don't lie. Congratulations!  But, you have probably ruined the soil in your garden by getting in it when it was far too wet!!  I made that mistake about 20 years ago. It took years to get the 'clay brick" soil reconditioned.

you arent a very happy go lucky guy are you?  very hyper critcal of others.

I can assure you that a topsoil moisture deficit is developing over much of central and northern Virginia. This has nothing to do with the subsoil clay moisture in your garden. Clay retains moisture long after topsoil is dry. During the first 29 days of March I received 38% of normal rainfall!

when i  get home I'll  take a picture of the shoes I used while tilling my garden.  I grew 3 inches from all the clay/soil stuck to the bottom of my shoes.  my entire yard is wet not just my garden.  I'm looking forward to things drying out

The GEM capitulated to the GFS southern track and ots.  A continuation of a recent weeks pattern that finds much of Virginia/Maryland now beginning to suffer a soil moisture deficit.

I can assure you fine people there is no soil moisture deficit in Warrenton!  I just tilled up my garden and the clay is saturated!
