Anyway, I'm excited for a colder rain this weekend. /sarcasm

Like Will said, I do worry a bit about a trend toward icier solutions up here. It's been a rough start to the season for the birches and my bamboo. The driveway is in midwinter form with the glaciating hardpack snow turning to ice.

We will see if this trends colder as we close in, Cold generally gets underplayed further out.

Yeah we're hoping that some of the birches and alders bounce back that aren't touching the ground with the few days of sun this week. If not this will be worse than the December 2011 smaller ice/snow storm we had up here, we worked our asses off for a few weeks then it barely snowed the rest of the winter....

This weekend system may not help either, Could actually make things worse

Took yesterday off to clear snowmobile trails in Monson, Maine (just south of Moosehead Lake). What a mess out there. 13 inches of paste did a real number on alders and birches. In 6.5 hours we made it 5 miles and through 3 tanks of chainsaw gas each and that wasn't even cutting everything...

Getting a big crew together Saturday to try to make a big push hopefully, 8 to 10 people on sleds with saws should be better than the two of us yesterday.

We fit our 8.5 foot wide groomer through here, always a tight section but hoping they log it in the next few years to open it up.

Hoping the guidance is right for this weekend, we got a great base started, another 12 inches and we'll be grooming.

All projects are having blow down concerns, This was a bad one for trees.

If I was going to invest in a bigger generator I would have the electrician install a interlock kit..With a 30 amp transfer switch you’re limited to 7500 watts I think..Kind of defeats the bigger generator idea..Plus the interlock kit is a lot cheaper..I installed my 30 amp transfer switch(limited to 7500 watts)and wished I went the interlock kit route..

I sent him the link to look at, Thanks.

How does the cost compare to having a generac installed?

Its around $700 for the Switch, Cable and labor, I already have the portable Genny, I'm going to be upgrading that too here at some point to 10,000 watts, So i'm looking at $1,500 total.

    Bahahaha

Get my standby generator installed 30 days later.

After this past weekend (even though i didn't lose power) I'm having my electrician come hook me up a 10 circuit 30 amp generator switch in anticipation of us seeing more of these types of systems going forward.

Looks like another 5-7 here based on the latest models, I just glanced quickly.

I just measured 13 in that same spot from earlier. There is a lot of blowing and drifting now however.

If that's true, I should hit 17" or so assuming upslope adds in some fluff tomorrow.

Some of the heaviest snow I have ever seen.

Won't be the last time you say this, ha ha

Trip was easy, except for the fishtail, accident, crashing into the  guard rail dude that was just in front of me.  Knew that was going to happening because mofo was hauling ass...way too fast.    Up to 6" here now

Rte 27 is a dangerous windy road along the Carrabasset River, if that's where it was.
