hahahahaha happens every time
I've been away for so long that I need to reorient myself to the weenie meltdown craziness.
The kids are going to be turned up to 11 today so the earlier the snow starts the better

And for those popping in from PA, thanks for stopping by! Just remember this is a very DC/Baltimore centric forum, so don't be surprised if we never talk about PA and shun your snow . But here's a local met's snowmap for you
Went to college with Christine, she is wonderful

I would imagine any obs thread at this point would be a whole bunch of marylanders freaking the hell out when there is no snow by lunch on Wednesday.
It's happening!

Going to be a bumpy ride but I still feel ok (for now) in Frederick. Seems like most of the maps have the worst gradient around Germantown with Sugarloaf Mountain acting as a nice barrier for us up here.
Currently at 27.1 / 21.2 with an up and down day forecast

Just heard my fiancee singing "Walking in a Winter Wonderland" in the kitchen and I said "you know, we could go up to deep creek and you could see a real winter wonderland tomorrow?". 15 minutes later it looks like we are going to hop in the car after dinner and head out to my future in-laws' place. Never thought I'd be able to convince her to travel for snow
Nice! Grab some food at Moon Shadow while out there!

Mine too -- she only has class from 1015-11 tomorrow. I told her she had all afternoon to go outside and play in the snow.
It's a definite silver lining for the kiddos

Only viable solution now is that everyone gets screwed. Looking forward to the 2000 word essays describing why it happened.
March 6, 2013. "Noquester" storm. What a nightmare

Do ensemble max charts even belong here?
ha. Well that's a fair question. Gotta keep the morale up or things will get ugly

When can we start the nowcast/obs thread so I can stare out my window and say SLEET once before I get rain at 34 degrees for 6 hours tomorrow?
I would imagine any obs thread at this point would be a whole bunch of marylanders freaking the hell out when there is no snow by lunch on Wednesday.

Yea the GFS saves I-95 and points west. I really hope this is the start of a last minute trend for the better.
Is that something we do?

Oooooo, fantastic, Thanks for the heads up.
Right down the road from Ski Liberty too if you feel like being one of the first to hit the fresh snow

That storm made me want to move out of downtown Frederick area...not kidding.
I didn't go far, but I noticed it always seems to drop about 3 degree when going from work (Ballanger area at 300') out to the house in Lake Linganore area (550')...hopefully that will make a bit of a difference in the future...albeit small.I bet! The snowshadow is real and it is heartless

My work network miraculously unblocked this site after years of it being verboten. So glad to see that nothing at all has changed in this forum over the last few years.

Yeah, I moved a little north of Frederick last year and was surprised that I had less elevation than Columbia haha. Well still better spot than Glen Burnie was.
haha. For sure. We do pretty well with many of the events out this way, as long as it isn't too elevation dependent.

The Frederick Valley unfortunately does poorly in events with weak cold air advection.
We just have no elevation at all for events like this. My house sits at a paltry 300 ft.

nah. im not going to apologize for the snow i get. move north if you don't like your climo.
Is it bad that I have actually considered moving to higher elevations just for this reason? My catoctin ridge rain / snow shadow can be a frustrating.

congrats guys to my west, did a little better than i did. catoctin wx measured 1.5 in Frederick, per his tweet. Saw another 1.5 measurement from Westminster.
Thanks Mappy
Looks beautiful outside today
