Through 12/25:
BOS: +0.3F
ORH: +2.3F
PVD: -0.7F
BDL: +0.2
I thought it would average warmer to date. 12/26-27 will likely end up aob but 12/28-31 will tack on some +.
I would have guessed that they would have been way above. I guess the cold shot tempered it somewhat.

the pattern will flip around the 10th as the ULL off the WC retrogrades westward towards the Aleutians when the Pacific jet retracts
this is well agreed upon by ensembles and it makes sense, so this is a break more than anything else. the hints of Scandinavian ridging also point towards renewed blocking once into the last couple weeks of the month. the -EPO/+PNA would also scour out any residual Pacific air relatively quickly, so there wouldn't be a week or two of delay, especially under peak climo
Stinkin' charts better work out this time or folks are going to be hunting geese.

I'm sure the Book of Will can answer that. LOL.
That was my thought as well. Just took a quick peek at last year we had one day reach 50°.

Nice storm to rain in the New Year.
Ushers in a week of temperatures in the '50s. How often do we get that?

26 people died from this event ... How does that happen - gotta wonder what their back story was that necessitated either not heeding warnings, or just not paying attention, because it must have been some fantastically compelling reasons.
Backstory is they are likely from Southern New England. It never snows here no matter what the forecast. Probably thought that was what happens in other parts of the country.

Over half a winter wasted before we even have a chance of it cold enough to snow. That’s assuming the pattern changes
It's over. No winter this year.

Who was the guy on the board who used to take a lot of Maine pictures? Lighthouses and such. He may have even sold them.

Trash and recycle cans still in upright positions. May secure the recyclables. Not in the mood for a holiday beer can chase.

What makes me anxious though is the long duration winds. You get 25mph sustained with gusts to even 40mph over 6+ hours around here and there will be power outages.
This ^
How often do we actually gust to over 40 miles an hour? Not often around here.
