Not at my place! However, on 64 out of Rutherford and into McDowell, trees all over the place! Had to move a few and reroute to get around. Roads are good but damn, lots of trees down! Heading to 321 now.
Crazy drive so far!
.When the precipitation started moving through Belmont, NC, it started out as sleet and rain mix. It was only like this for a few minutes and then just plain ole COLD AZE RAIN. LOL.

Heading out in about an hour. I’ll pop updates on the roads folks!
35 and all rain here in the foothills.
.Mark,
Did you all experience any ip at the onset of precipitation last night? Just curious if you all had any frozen precip before the main body of rain started moving through. Thanks man!

Models overnight are definitely trending favorable for next Friday. I think us mnt folk might can score a solid 2-4 event
How is the trends looking for areas outside of the Foothills/Mountains? Thanks in advance for any input

Saw some sleet on Catawba Valley Blvd in Hickory about 45 minutes ago
There was a few minutes of ip, mixed with rain here in Belmont, NC, at the onset. Of course, it quickly changed to all rain, however, it did put down a decent clip of ip/rn. Hope you and your family had an awesome and safe Thanksgiving QC!

And no storms or very cold air on 6z GFS long range!? Here we are a day away from Fab Feb start, and it ain't looking too Fab, anytime soon
That will change soon enough man. Just remember that the all mighty Euro and the crappy GFS do NOT handle the Carolinas well with CAD in medium range and when you have HP's dropping down and rotating in and out like this pattern suggests, then the LR will flip-flop, like you see now. Go with Climo and the other methods for our areas. We will be fine. I love the setup we are entering into. Like Robert of WXSouth has stated all along.

Are we within the time frame and is there enough support to make a thread for Sunday/Monday? If so, someone needs to start it up.

Hopefully this keeps trending colder and deeper!

I tell you what...the last 2 runs of the GFS have been very interesting! If the GFS were to be true, we are entering a pattern where it is a train of one small hit after another, strung out over a week, which leads me to ask...what are the other models showing for the 5th through the 12th???

I would have agreed with your memory as we only got 4" of snow and sleet that evening but then hit the jackpot with the UL deformation band that sat on us all the following morning to pile on a very fast 8" of additional snow. Too bad once the UL pulled out it, the temps shot up and melted most of it away that day.
I remember getting a Thundersnow on that one! The flakes were SO HUGE! Ended up with 12' of snow total. Great storm, thanks to the Deformation band that formed over us!!

I know it's a ways out but that looks like some serious suppression with that push of cold air so we might be back to square one where it just shoved everything South. We'll see.
If it follows the same trend(s) as December, then we will be rocking late Feb into early March with some good moisture. Something will line up outta this!

Looks like the CLT area will be screwed with this system. Looking at the radar, it appears the battle lines are already set. SMH. Looks like the Mountains/Foothills and I-40 N will be the places to be yall.

I do not. Rain with snow possibly mixing in at times is how I see it. Tough forecast, maybe the stars align one time
Roger that! Thanks!

GFS has a really dynamic look to it for western NC (that's where I was focused - could be in other areas too). From a thermal standpoint, you can see a squeeze play going on as this system develops - the 850 zero degree line is working its way NW and backing right into the cold air in W NC....long duration event on the GFS...ya'll have winter storm warnings in the NC mtns yet? You need them
Grit,
Do you think the CLT/Gaston County areas will reach warning criteria?

With the developments you are seeing take place, what Analog do you see shaping up so far? I am thinking November 18, 2000. Hope all is well my friend!

I am pinning this thread again as we head into the home stretch of what was a train-wreck & subsequent hazmat spill kind on winter. Most are already aware of the posting etiquette, however, some may be new and others may have forgot. I understand the absence of winter weather can be taxing, our SE sub forum is no exception in the hair-pulling/bickering/etc, I assure you it is happening all over. However, the time has come to start clamping down, so consider this a warning.
These are some posts from the med-long range thread just from the last few days. Many were reported by our members and deleted, and others were just deleted by staff without a report. This is an example(s) of what not to post in the weather threads, and for the sake of transparency, these were the entire posts, not just an excerpt of what someone wrote. I already have a short list of repeat offenders and if we have another report/have to delete another post they make, pm will be coming after the timeout/limited posting tag is on. Even if you do not think this applies to you, please take a moment to refresh over QC's post top of page 1. We will be dishing out timeouts and limited posting privileges first, answering questions later, warning giveth. Thank you
.
This one is just an excerpt. Any political speech wx-side is a big no-no, violation of board rules. Take it to OT/PR, next time I see/here about it, the person is out for an extended forecast.
"do not act like a Republican"
I am wondering why I do not see an example of "insults on the way a person looks" on here? This is common courtesy that a person should have along with the "how much", "Republican", "+1" issues. From what I recollect, that person was never given even a timeout. Must be a helluva donator

His remarks don't bother me. In fact, I don't even know if he was refering to me. I assume he was b/c he has made similar remarks to me in the past.
I think you are a pretty woman and there is NO EXCUSE for him to say what he said. What a douchebag! I can put up with his b!tchin about the weather, but not his personal assaults on people.

A pic my daughter took of me a few minutes ago...I lost the bet, so had to post!
That is an awesome pic! You should be proud! Pretty!

Good morning folks! I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving? I do not know about you all, but I am SO READY to track a winter system! Hoping we have a 2009-2010 kind of season, where the tracks were APLENTY! Is there anything on the horizon that keeps showing up, but not quite close enough to set up a thread? LOL...I am ready to see some awesome analytics from all the Southeast Crew!! Have a good one everyone and STAY SAFE!
