  1. Fun fact: as of yesterday afternoon I have recorded more rain in the first 5 days of August than I did in the entire month of July.
  2. Ended July with 2.83” of rain. Average is nearly 6”. Started August off on the right foot with a spectacular thunderstorm this evening. 1.7” in the gauge.
  3. It finally rained IMBY today. 1.25" is the most I've recorded in a day since 5/6. Monthly total for July is still only about 40% of normal. I think I might be the only person in the state with worsening drought conditions.
  4. I did everything I could to summon the rain yesterday. I washed my car, put the sprinklers out on the lawn, even sprayed some herbicides. Got missed again.
  5. I'm getting really sick of watching it rain in a circle all around me. I actually just lost power for a while due to lightning, but the rain dome is intact. Not a single drop of rain. Looking at my records, it hasn't rained an inch in a single event here since 5/24.
  6. Just can't seem to get the storms around my area for some reason. There have been storms around daily for a couple of weeks now, but I've really had very little rain. And WAY less thunder than a normal July. This should be the wettest month of the year here. Even today we are stuck under the anvil of the large storm cluster over northern Atlanta. It's stabilizing us without giving us any rain.
  7. Mostly misses down here. My 3 day total sits at 0.71", but it came in 4-5 different brief showers. Good for the grass, not so great for ponds and streams which are all VERY low. Looks like coverage will be better down here today and tomorrow.
  8. So far I have not been the beneficiary of any of these storms for any rainfall, but the outflow boundary was very welcome. Dropped the temp from 93 to 78.
  9. I'm not sure why our heat advisory hasn't been an extreme heat warning. We hit a heat index of 108 yesterday and 110 so far today. I think that's above the advisory level.
  10. Looks like there are some legitimate 80 degree dew points showing up. KDNN (Dalton) is registering 90/80 with a HI of 107. My PWS has spiked to an 82 degree DP which is the highest one I have ever recorded.
  11. Hitting 90 before 10 AM today. If we mix out dews we probably break 100. Got close yesterday.
  12. All misses down here this weekend. I could see the clouds off to the NW, but they never materialized into rain. It was pretty darn hot yesterday. My PWS peaked at 93.6 with a DP of 77. That calculates a heat index of 108. I'm confident that my PWS overestimates the DP consistently, but the point still stands: it's hot.
  13. This bowed out storm complex rolling through looks pretty mean. 80 mph winds in the strongly worded warning text. They also activated the cell phone emergency alerts for it.
  14. Only 0.25" here. Way more in every direction all around me. Oh well. Still doing ok on a monthly basis and more is coming Monday.
