Already the snowiest year and we do not have December snows in there yet? Will we get to 50"?

8.0" is the total average for Oct-Dec for IND...but you never know.

Something to shot for though...record highest calendar year snowfall total for Indianapolis is 54.8" in 1996. This year is already guaranteed at least 3rd place.

Maybe. List above is totals through August, mind you. Need 12 more, which is a lot really. December will have to be cold. A few November ones would help too.

Here's the top 5 yearly most sub-20˚ min temp days:

1) 63 days in 1963

2) 63 days in 1960

3) 59 days in 1978

4) 57 days in 1912

5) 56 days in 1886

5) 56 days in 1875

EDIT: there have been 23 Decembers since 1943, that have had 12 or more sub-20˚ min temp days. Some recent Dec totals that achieved that: 2013 (13), 2010 (16), 2008 (13), 2005 (14), and 2000 (24). 1943-2013 Nov-Dec mean total is 12...so I guess it may not be as hard as I thought.

1917 is the year to beat for the annual record. 2014 needs a good cold November, because catching 1917 will be difficult due its really cold December.
