  1. 2014 coming to a close, so what's your favorite weather event/memories/moments/whatever of the past year? Outside of the cold and snow early on, it was a pretty boring year IMBY. But, here's my list of favorites: January 5 snowstorm followed by an arctic outbreak January 22 arctic front/squalls February 4-5 snowstorm January-March wintry weather to close out a historic winter 2013-14 for LAF Record cool July August 21-22 heavy rainfall event Really cold November Anyways...Happy New Year, and hopefully 2015 is a fun weather year for all.
  2. 2014 temperature, precipitation, and snowfall numbers for Indianapolis...by month and year-to-date. LT = departure versus the longterm average values • 1872 to 2013 AP = departure versus the airport average values • 1943 to 2013 1981-10 = departure versus average values from 1981 to 2010 (may differ from 1981-10 NCDC normals, as these are strict averages/no smoothing)
  3. Top 10 warmest and coolest Fall seasons for Evansville, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, and South Bend. Consensus warmest (1931) and coolest (1976) for all four cities. Average temperatures are longterm values.

  5. Okay folks, here's a thread for the upcoming week! I hope the Abominable Snowman brings the mojo for everyone, especially those who are currently suffering a snow drought!
  6. Simple, vote... Regional Snowfall Index (RSI) which was developed by NOAA's NCDC as an evolution to K & U's NESIS. This pole is for the SE Region and I will quote the full text from the site below, as well as the pdf behind it. For brownie points, reply with a value, winner wins nothing, except for a major winter storm. I am going with 13.25 - Crippling, index does not take into account ZR which could be catastrophic from Augusta to Columbia to Florence (all major pops). Questions in how much does the 85 corridor from ATL - GSP - CLT - GSO - RIC get, please note the NCDC SE region includes VA. http://www1.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/cmb/snow-and-ice/rsi/regional-snowfall-impact-scale-27th-iips-v3a.pdf
