Euro has some scattered showers on Saturday. So this would make it every spring weekend since the beginning of March with at least some measurable rain. Then we’ll have to see if that more organized area of low pressure develops for Memorial Day. Hopefully, the Euro is overdone on the rainfall amounts but at least some rain is possible. Still time for Monday to come into better focus on later runs.

Newark and other stations have had at least a T of rain on every weekend this spring so far.

    May 18-19…..0.04

    May 11-12…0.38

    May 4-5…..0.31

    Apr 27-28…0.11

    Apr 20-21…0.05

    Apr 13-14…0.04

    Apr 6-7…….T

    Mar 30-31…0.01

    Mar 23-24….3.10

    Mar 16-17…..T

    Mar 9-10….1.46

    Mar 2-3…..1.31

Are there comparable stats for Tues/Wed or Wed/Thurs? I'd guess that if you looked at any of those two combos, you'd see almost no days with precipitation, lol

Im with you. This is a long shit slog of rain from Nov thru spring with temps in 40s and 50s. Then a summer of bugs and humidity. It is terrible.

Mentally, it is getting to be like the Pacific NW. Not good.

Worth a move out west to a sunny dry type climate (Denver/SLC) if you can swing it

Yea agree, I made a similar comment a while back that the climate here is becoming less appealing. Winters too warm for snow and Spring is just cool, wet and gloomy for weeks on end as we are often on the wrong side of BCDFs (at least DC and to a lesser extent Philly salvage more warm and sunnier days during this period).

And what makes it worse is how the weekends often are ending up wet - terrible for us with kids!

The wild card for next weeks warm up will be how close to the coast the upper low gets. The Euro is the most optimistic and gets into a deeper SW flow and higher temperatures. The GFS and GEM hold into more onshore flow especially near the immediate coast and aren’t as warm. So the position of the upper low will determine the ceiling for high temperatures.

As we get towards the end of May, even with an onshore flow the temps wouldn't be overly cool so at least we have that going for us. The frequent rain events though...I've had enough! Just an awful pattern this spring.

Yea. The rough part has been seeing southern Canada warmer than us day after day due to the flow off the Atlantic.

I have a few Canadian cities on my weather app and there have only been sparingly few days this Spring where they were warmer. It was much more frequent last year with many over the op Highs that really warmed up Montreal and Ottawa.

Well Knicks lost in 7 against Houston.  Let's hope they can overcome their championship drought. Would be insane if they both win this year!

As much as I love this Knicks team, it's doubtful they win it all. The Rangers have a decent shot though.

Just awful. And we have our townwide garage sale Saturday in which we're participating. Probably going to be damp and 40s while setting up. I'm not even sure its going to be worth it

Only saving grace is that it's Friday and not Sat/Sun, but yes awful.

thank goodness it will turn cooler starting thursday wearing a hoodie and jacket in these temps is uncomfortable..

79 with a dew of 45 is uncomfortable? I mean even for cold hounds this is just about perfect.

Yup. First half of this month is going to be cool/wet. Just miserable

Awful, especially with next weekend looking raw and wet yet again

    this team cannot score

they played a team who also can't score so eventually something had to give.

Almost seems that Soto performing and Judge not performing is netting out and we are left with the same issues/offensive struggles as last year. Anyway nice to eek out a win!

back door fronts are thankfully becoming less common here too, they usually happen in early April and not this late in the month

Are they? Feels like we've had many that have lasted into May in the past several years, espec with these crazy blocking patterns. Memory could be hazy trying to remember earlier times tho!

I often wish we had DC’s climate, or at least much less susceptible to BDCF’s.

    82 here.

They certainly have a better late March to mid May climate as they often avoid BDCFs and the associated cloudy and easterly flow. If our winters continue to stink then I'd agree that they have a better overall climate considering their better Spring weather and as we both roast in the summer and have similar Autumns.

Albany is 50 with drizzle. Boston is 57 and Provincetown is 55.

True tho DC and to some extent Philly will be baking starting tomorrow for the next several days while we stay cloudy in the 60s.

I think the problem with April is that while warmer than March overall, our expectations are higher for April than for March.  I also think that the earlier start to daylight savings puts us mentally in Spring mode sooner than we should be. Anyone with kids in outdoor sports knows that we all freeze our a**es off from March until some point in May, when suddenly a switch is flipped and it's tolerable for a week before oppressive heat kicks in that no one is prepared for.

I agree that there is a psychological element to it, but the gloominess over the past few years has made it feel worse.

  14. Awful day. Climate in NYC is beginning to really stink now for half the year: Winters too warm for snow and Spring, while not necessarily below average are overly raw and wet.

Are people actually taking off for this lol

It's an extremely rare event! Unfortunately could not make it out of the City but will take my kids to the Park to experience the partial eclipse with the special glasses. Not nearly as good as being in totality but better than nothing.

I did research if/when NYC will be in the path of totality - May 1, 2079! Will either be dead or too old to know what is happening assuming I am even still living here, lol.

But does it also mean clear weather for the eclipse? That seems to be a near certainty now, with only a 1% chance of clouds?

I think western NY does have higher probs of "unexpected" cloudiness vs here but def looks good right now!

Upton went all in here with blizzard conditions and big totals....most of the storm was heavy rain during the day...then we got a dryslot of sorts with some light garbage snows...we did get accumulating snow overnight mainly on the grass, ended up with 3-4 inches of slop. Hunter Mtn had 3 feet from what I remember

I was living in Armonk at the time and we got around 11 inches. But accumulations dropped rapidly southward as Westchester airport, only a few miles south was at 6-7 inches if I recall.

61 here. Looks like Thursday gets into the 70’s with sun, warmest day we’ve had since November

Bring it on, nothing worse than being too warm for snow but still too cold to enjoy anything.

    Brutal

Yea, two separate storms hitting us on consecutive days - frustrating that the lack of spacing between them is not preventing the 2nd one from reaching us.

It boggles my mind that people want this warmth this early.  We have 8 more months of this mild weather.

    Wtf

If it's not going to snow then a day like today is great. Cool, dreary / rainy is depressing and unfortunately is what we will get starting tomorrow and will last for an entire week.

I noted the same thing on Sunday. There’s a hard line just north of Duchess and the snow doesn’t start again till Lake George.

Crazy winter. Im glad its over.

    Sad state of affairs

It did end up snowing a few inches in the Berks overnight, beautiful fluffy snow. Happy I got one more mini event under my belt lol. Will be a nice day to ski!

Im impressed with snow cover remaining in Westchester. Granted we have hills. Enjoying last licks. 36F light rain

Drove up to the Berkshires today and was also impressed with the snow cover - especially in northern Westchester into Putnam. Funny enough snow cover dropped to almost nil once I got into central Dutchess county and it continued that way the rest of the drive up! The far northern areas did not cash in at all during the past two events. It is quite eery to be up here in Feb and not see much of any snow on the ground.
