  1. i have been saying for a while february is one of the jersey shore’s best months

You would think summer would draw more Jersey Shore viewers than in February? I thought MTV took that show off years ago. Apparently we have a “situation”.

  2. Whoever said earlier that at least in the 80s you could count on at least a few 4-6” events each year, I agree. In grade school we seemed to get precisely one snow day a year from them.  Seemed like the very clippers that for the last two decades mean white rain around here were our go-to for a few 4-6 inchers a year back the .  Everyone who was around back then remembers ‘Alberta Clipper’ right?  That’s what almost all of them seemed to be.

I was born in 74. Definitely remember Alberta Clippers in the 80s, I also remember cold and dry then when snow was forecast it was usually snow to rain. I spent many nights looking out my window in the Bronx watching all my beautiful snow get washed away. Always remember driving to my grandmothers house in Ulster County and they would have mountains of snow while NYC had nothing. I’m already dreading next weeks warm up and feeling gypped from these 2 measly storms. Yes I got 12 inches of snow last week but it was gone in 3 days.

  3. It looks like a bust for the models and forecasters.
What looked like a few inches for many areas with high ratios turned into nothing because of the dry air and the late Miller B formation.

Lotta confusion on here this morning. Your saying bust and others says coastal will get cranking and the anemic radar will fill in. Which is it?

We just got a foot in Dutchess county last weekend. I'll take the 2-4 or whatever it is.

Sorry, I am greedy. At the very least I would have liked out snowpack to have remained for several days and add more to it. We have been waiting for colder weather all season and now its here and we get suppression or strung out storms. SMH.

    Hi... I like it.  NRCS?

In any case... my only concern is that mixed temps over the snowpack may not pass 50 or if they do, not be 50+ for more than 6 hours over snow depth 8+... I kind of see that in the plan view guidance before and after midnight. sort of looks to me like where there is 8+ snow cover, we only lose 75% and the remaining 2" hold a lot of water... You're the hydrologist.  My concerns are similar though I dont have any expertise on river rises outside of having produced warnings.

I value what you've said. fwiw... I'm going to have to use NERFC/PHI forecast stages. Temps/qpf will ultimately dictate.

Whatever doesn't go Wed morning, might complete the melting cycle Fri night, but even there mostly chilly temps except for maybe 6 hours?

And the remaining snow pack is gone by Saturdays cutter.......

  6. What a great day, been snowing moderately all morning, picked up a few more inches, still coming down lightly  now.  Pulled out the quad and was ripping through the property and street.  Just a wonderful day, all my kids outside and not on the computer/phone/xbox.
