You did all you could. I wouldn’t feel comfortable having a strange dog coming into the house. They should have come to pick it up. My fiancé stopped in the middle of 138 to let a dog jump into the car that was running lose. The dog was dull of fleas and ticks and was trying to nip at us. It was an awful situation and animal control basically told her not to do that again. We love animals and dogs, but sometimes you have to watch for your own safety

So I threw bulbs in a few weeks ago to come up next year. The issue is, some of them are sprouting up right now. Are these ruined or will they come up in the spring? Should I cut them? Leave them?

I rushed home from work to spread grass seed thinking it would get a nice soaking. Looks like I’ll be watering tomorrow.

How late can I plant new grass here? I had planned to do it this weekend but I probably won’t get around to it.

They were. I thought I did a decent job breaking up the roots so it would take though. I suppose anything is possible. The rose bushes are bigger, and actually fill in that space better right away than the azaleas, so I figured I’d just pull them instead of waiting to see if they came back next year.

Both azaleas we’re down to sticks at this point. I was able to pull them out of the ground with 2 fingers. Looks like they never actually “took” to the soil... no evidence roots were advancing. Planted rose bushes there instead...hopefully those work out better

I plan on planting more grass and slice seeding first week of September. My other Azalea bush is now browning as well. I wonder if full sun is too much? Or a soil composition issue? When we bought the house the entire front yard was sand. I added about 4-6” of loam over the entire thing and planted what I did. So it’s 4-6” of loam a layer of sand... maybe 4-6” as well? And then more regular soil below that. Could that layer of sandy garbage be screwing with some plants? I figured the roots would take hold deeper than that

Can anyone tell me what the heck is going on here? The taller tree is a false cypress and I’ve already trimmed a bunch of browning branches off it and you can see it looks like the whole tree has it. The smaller one is a dwarf Alberta that’s been in the ground since April and is suddenly showing showing signs of browning. False cypress has been in since early July.

Maybe? I’d like to think I didn’t overdue it... but anything is possible I suppose. Here it is.

Watered basically daily unless we received rain

Anyone have an idea why an azalea would die suddenly? i bought and planted in early spring and it flowered and has looked fine. Literally over the last 3 days the entire thing save for a few green branches has turned browned and dropped off. No idea why. Other one on the other side of the stairs is fine

Done trying for grass for now. Some good, some bad. Will get some more loam and seed in the fall. Planted 6 false cypress today and a decent size limber pine that I got for half off. Looks like a nice full tree that grows about 25’ tall.

Just take it one at a time... start with easy ones to free up space for the more problematic ones. Takes some practice but I’m sure you could probably do most of them yourself over time.

Yeah I’d skip the willow unless you have a gigantic property. I’ve had several people tell me absolutely no dice with a well.

beds on either side of stairs... new planted tree... some grass and a lot of weeds.... lots of work too do.

Got a bunch of phlox ground cover for 50% off today.. nice way to spruce up the beds with some color. Mulched the beds out front today. And planted two 6-8’ tall flowering peach trees

Thanks for the responses... I figured cool weather may slow it down. Still nada as of today... hopefully a bit warmer tomorrow and we’ll see something pop

Planted grass out front last Saturday... weeds popping but no sign of grass... how long does it usual take to start seeing anything?

Slow but steady progress on my disaster here. Got about half the front yard loamed and seeded... more loam to come Tuesday and will have entire front yard seeded by middle of this week. Planted a few dwarf Alberta spruce, azaleas and some ground cover type stuff as well.

That’s a lot of loam. I’ll be doing my whole yard with about 25... granted it’s only a quarter acre lot... but still
