  1. I'm normally a lurker and learner, but I had to report on my experience outside just now - absolutely, unbelievably incredible rates - got over 1 inch in 15 minutes, must be 3-4 inches an hour. Drifts of three feet, at least 14 inches accumulation (not scientifically measured). I'm in Mullica Hill near Richwood. That was my third outing to try to keep up with the storm. What a historic storm - all hail the GFS!
  2. One of the finest phrases ever - should be etched in stone!
  3. I have the distinct impression that long after AI has solved the mysteries of the universe, dark energy and matter, aliens, and the like - we still won't be able to forecast the accumulation from east coast snow storms. It's the final frontier of science!
  4. Agreed - calling for a repeat of those storms is just a bit premature! The GFS vs. the world disconnect is really frustrating. Hoping for a consensus tomorrow.

  6. I know everybody is either depressed or biting their nails, so I thought I'd show this heartening tweet https://x.com/HuffmanHeadsUp/status/2016378076901281901/photo/1
  7. Fascinating! Can I ask the source of the statement, and when it was issued or posted? Thanks.
  8. Not surprising, I suppose: Bloomberg on river flow https://t.co/ogOBD3MvrV?amp=1
  9. Power failure in NO - major transmission tower collapsed into river, reported by emergency ops center
  10. So they didn't expect a power cut during a hurricane and have inadequate generators? Didn't they learn anything?
  11. It is being reported that one of the major stations, FOX 8, has mets who are very concerned about NOLA. Certainly seems like there is serious risk, with one levee overtopping already reported. The extent of the metropolitan calamity is only now unfolding.
