If the steering mechanisms are so weak, why does Florence get as far as the coast and then looks like a billard ball hitting the edge of the table. Is there something magic about the coast or are the models struggling with happens with the hurricane once it's made landfall.

The southern end of Long Lake is known as Van Buren Lake by locals. My family has owned camps at that end of the lake for 100+ years. Are you on the snowmobile trails? If you go through Grand Isle and Van Buren you'll be crossing my family's lands. It's beautiful. I'm jealous you're up there. Enjoy!
