Rochelle an easy run. 40 minutes out. Would love to keep wheels east of the Rock River today.

Wow. Let's pull that much liquid equivalent, along with good cold in place, come December.Nice soakers today, picked up almost 2". Pushing 5" for the month.
Had 50-55mph southeasterly winds at work for about 15min around 3pm. Was pretty wild out there. -
It was a wintry but invigorating run through the snowscape in the cold and fog this morning.
The snow cover melted off quickly once the fog burned off late morning. The grass seemed greener with the new moisture and sun.
A few piles where we shoveled the walk yesterday remained this evening. The rain should take of them overnight. -
Grass just about covered. Slushy layer on paved surfaces.
IDOT plows out, but the municipal trucks stayed in. -
Dumping now. Accumulation underway.

Precip started as snow about thirty minutes ago. Very light so far.

How similar is this setup to 4/14/19?
That was a daytime event that laid it down just right. -
Looks great.Way out there but oh lord, the 18z GFS has an unwelcome visitor around April 5.
Regardless of whether or not that happens, this isn't exactly a nice springtime pattern, as has already been alluded to. But I suppose you usually don't get a perfectly clean transition out of winter anyway. -
Dee the man.

We'll have to try again in April.turd duster. tis to be expected. it's march. had potential though. -
Looking good.

180 miles on the sleds today. Freezing rain has been plentiful but mostly not a challenge, just a bit unusual to have ice on gear and the machines. Most of the trails were great.
Freezing rain continues and starting to look wild outside here in Munising.
We met someone who had been driving through it from Duluth with some pretty impressive accretion on the car!- 2

Off to the races now.

First wave went through with a few flurries.

TotallyLOL at people eager for spring in early February. Give me a redux of 2018 when there was a 16” blizzard on April 17th and the lakes around here didn’t lose their ice until the beginning of May.- 1

Just arrived in Munising. Had light freezing drizzle the final ten miles. Snow packed parking lots look good. We'll see what the trails hold come morning.

If the trend keeps going, those oranges will be in N IL by 18z tomorrow.

I would rather snowshoe through the backcountry and enjoy the serenity of nature vs riding a sled. It just isn't fun anymore, and it seems a lot of people can't ride without being completely shitfaced so it's dangerous as well. I don't even keep track of how many people die up here each year due to speed and alcohol.
We have a great time with friends and family on our machines. It's been an amazing set of memories from childhood to now with our own children.
Our time in the UP is something we look forward to each season, but backyard riding has it's own satisfaction as well. Excited for the continued growth in technology and of course for the snow next week!- 2
