  1. Looks like I hit -5 last night!! Currently sitting at 2.7. Wow! Edit - MBY had only -0.3, the -5 reading is from KPOU which is about 3 miles north of me... Still, very impressive radiational cooling.
  2. Really? I would have expected you to come in close to me - I have 12 and I am on rt28 between Hopewell Junction and Rt 9... Perhaps I over measured, but I used a snow board in an open spot...
  3. Yeah, that mega band over western dutchess helped me out, but I didn't get the cigar!! Danbury and surrounding area cashed in AGAIN! They are making up for the screw zone they were in las winter for sure.
  4. Closing in on 12 inches here based on my snow board measurement and multiple other measurements around the area.. This definitely over-performed.. Still snowing lightly. About 14 inches on the ground now.
  5. Love this latest AFD from Albany. http://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=NWS&issuedby=ALY&product=AFD&format=CI&version=1&glossary=0&highlight=off
  6. High ratios FTW! Albany snow map shows me straddling the 11" contour in Dutchess. We will see. I think there could be some surprises (good and bad!) with this storm. Such an explosive set-up. http://www.erh.noaa.gov/aly/Past/Snow_PNS/WSW.htm

  8. Yeah, there is something brewing around 180 hours that points to a low pressure developing on an arctic front... Looks like it could be interesting for our area, especially to our north. Higher heights/thicknesses would take NYC out of the game verbatim right now, but obviously this is a ways out. What is your prediction for tonight? I would be happy with anything in the 6-10 range.
  9. 0.5 for the area... it backed off due to a weaker surface low.. I think at this juncture a 5-9 or 6-10 range is a sensible forecast.. I hope I bust low.
  10. It's amazing.. I sometimes feel like it is a cruel joke. I moved up here from Brooklyn in Nov 2009, and ever since then, they have had epic snowstorms This year is certainly better, but I feel like I have yet to experience a more "typical" HV winter, where we cash in as those south and east get relatively screwed with BL issues. Having said that, Feb 26th 2010 still wins in terms of prolific snowfall totals, but as Rob has said, it was a miserable wet snow with so much damage. I am hoping we can get a foot out of this one. West trends are encouraging... We need to see the upper level vort coming across the MW, come in a tad stronger, and the coastal a tad weaker, then the precip shield should expand west a little, and the larger totals would move closer to our area.
  11. Euro QPF .5 for the whole area .75 straddles the border of NY/CT Moderate hit I would go with a 5-9"
  12. I read this as watches going up from ALY.. http://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/p.php?pid=201101101511-KALY-FXUS61-AFDALY
  13. Check out the NAM Bufkit for KPOU 31 inches of snow.. LOL http://www.meteor.iastate.edu/~ckarsten/bufkit/data/cobb_nam/nam_kpou.dat
  14. Completely agree with your thoughts... If things stay as they are, I would say a good 8-12" for the area. BTW, did you see the 15Z SRFs? Very bullish.. Some of the members clobber the mid hudson valley, especially north of here up towards Albany.
  15. 850s look to be -8C for the area, don't have great graphics so they could be a cooler than that, but we are easily in that contour. Surface temps are you would expect, are in the mid 20s, maybe lower 20s since this is mainly and overnight hit... I would say we get decent ratios up here given those stats.
  16. .75 - 1 from west to east... 1 inch line is probably just west of the hudson river... So we all get hit pretty good.
  17. Wow, don't think I got out of the 20s.. Remained under the clouds all night with dps in the 20s too. I say KMGJ hit 1 overnight!
  18. Folks - A nice hit on the Euro for our region regarding the storm on tuesday night... A nice 0.75" for all of us.. A little fast moving so taken as is, a nice 6-10 inch storm for us. Fingers crossed
  19. Looks like it has stalled about 10 miles east of me.. Still keeping an eye on it, but I think I am just about done with around 4 inches total. I'll take it.. Beautiful out, dog loves it!
  20. I am up to 3 inches now... Still lagging from the rest of you, but I have made a bit of a recovery and it is still snowing.. Maybe I can get another inch. It is funny, because I just noticed I have been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning!! Edit - I just did proper measurement - 4 inches on the nose. Light snow still falling.
  21. I am doing pretty poorly here.. Probably 2 inches at the maximum.. Just no consistency with the snow today. A couple of nice bursts, but then it fizzles out again... Starting up again now, but I think we are running out of time.
  22. <br><br>Amazing differences over short distances... <br><br>I live 3 miles south of the airport, and have a little more elevation (350 feet here) and I had 22 inches on top of the 7 inches a few days earlier, and I had depths of nearly 30 inches in my front yard... 3 miles north of me, I would say that they had 10 inches at best. Another 3 miles north, 4 inches. Conversely, I actually think that Fishkill and Beacon ended up with more than me!
  23. Here are my totals for 2010: Jan 01/02 | 2" 01/03 | 2.5" 01/08 | 2" 01/28 | 4" Jan Total: 10.5 Feb 02/03 | 1" 02/10 | 6" 02/17 | 6" 02/24 | 7" 02/25-02/26 | 22" Feb Total: 42" Dec 12/13 | 1.5" 12/26 | 16" Dec Total: 17.5" Grand Total: 70" I am up on Rt 28 between Hopewell Junction and Rt 9, so it can't be far off of what you had in Fishkill. Hope that helps.
  24. I have to go to the city one or two days a week and I hop on the Hudson Line which is really not too bad, considering my office is near Grand Central. However, I am glad that I only generally do the commute a couple of times a week - more often than not, just once a week.. It is just enough to give me the novelty of the city, but I am much happier working from home out of my home office!!
