Coming through banner elk. Reading of 30 degrees and very light precip

Down to 33 and it’s a sleet storm. About 10 minutes from elk park. Roads still fine.

On 19E headed towards elk park. Temp reading flirting between 34/35. Snow/sleet mix still.

Heavy snow/sleet mix wherever it is I’m at now on my journey home. Temp down to 37

Alright I should have left earlier. POURING sleet. Car thing says 41, so should be fine.

I’m on my way back to Boone now, but I’m in Johnson City, TN currently where the temp is 40 degrees and it’s pouring sleet. I’m not sure how the dynamics compare from here to east of the apps, but just something to note.

You might want to think about getting back over the mountain. Do you ever catch one?
Down another .4 to 26.5. DP is running around 21.
Will be soon. Gotta make the last day of vacation last as long as possible.
and I’ve tried, but they just never seem to stop.

Sleeting in Johnson City. (I’m running so far behind, enjoying my other hobby, chasing trains)

I’m about to make the drive back to Boone from Johnson city as there are now sleet reports in Knoxville (hour to my SW) and let me tell you it is cold here, don’t really think that means anything for us mountain folks, but an observation still. Have to see what the temp is when I get back to Boone.

The NAM always overdoes QPF or it used to back in the day, I never take it for verbatim and thats a good rule to go with
When it got redone a couple years back it helped that “somewhat” though still take it with a grain of salt. But it’s not like the NAM is an outlier at this point.

I don’t do generators, but I did buy 3 bags of charcoal today for some amazing grilling on Thursday as tress fall around me.
0z runs are scary.

First day with sunshine in a while. Also had a few flurries down this way.
Lucky. I think we had like 20 minutes where the sun peeked through, maybe tomorrow will have some before the clouds roll back in for the storm.

Currently imby......thunderstorms
Hey you could have real problems like having your new cast iron skillet delivered to your now ex girlfriends house... the day after you break up
or you can take my day 8 of mid 30’s and rain. This option is free of course.

Well we are having multiple models that are starting to come into agreement about what could happen Thursday. The 18z GFS just hammers us with snow and some ice. We have some other models that are showing wintery precipitation of some sort that will affect us Thursday. Stay tuned as things may become active very quickly.
A couple of models have had a run or so with a front end thump of snow, the GFS one upped everyone else in that regard which will be interesting going into the 0z model suite tonight. Thursday actually has me a bit nervous and may actually take a second trip to Walmart if some of these potential ice amounts look to verify.

looking at the GFS, I'm ready to move to the desert.

My thoughts after yesterday and today’s nice warm days regarding winter:
Meh, bring on the spring and sun.

Not getting the warmth you guys are getting. Roughly mid 40’s all day in Boone so not as exciting. I threw all my chips in on the upcoming pattern for the next week or so. If it doesn’t happen I’m out and ready to get a tan, even my boss says I’m scary pale.

The mid to long range thread is great for a laugh most days...
You would think it's either gonna be 70's and sunny or Armageddon in the thread, no in between lol

Cloudy skies in Johnson City, that count as part of the forum? Lol, the drive back to Boone will hopefully be snow filled here in a few hours.
