I’m thinking this isn’t happening north of I-195. Models have been insisting on this shaft zone since yesterday so looks like that will happen. Notice the heavy rain is consolidating over S NJ not moving north.

    I have 3+.

I read on their Facebook page that even the Thruway Authority deployed one of their bulldozers to help build the fire line. I’m assuming that the rains last night were a huge help.

Yea looks like at least the western side got a legitimate soaking, but everyone got enough to at least calm the concerns for a few days.

The rumors of summer's demise were greatly exaggerated

Summer is May 15th thru october 15th. Then we have warm autumn from october 15th thru dec 15th. Then cold autumn from december 15th thru january. We have a week of winter in february, then cold spring starts.

Funny thing about this drought.  About 5 years ago I totally gave up on the lawn in my backyard.  Let it go to weed grass after years of struggling to keep it lush.  Now, my front lawn which is good turf is scorched but the back is still green.

Thats usually my backyard as well. This is the first year its ever been this burnt in the back.

I remember in the younger days strapping an Indian tank on and a rake to put out those fires on clausland mountain in orangetown. Then the forestry hoses came out, made it easier. With these dry conditions, the peat moss catches fire underneath and burns for sometimes days or till a good soaking rain comes.
High of 96 here today, no rain IMBY.

Yea those things suck. Ill stick to tenements and brownstones, and the occasional private dwelling lol
