The SW mountains should be pretty exciting for tomorrow's event. This looks like the best chance we have had for accumulating snow this winter. Most all the models are looking really good.

The moisture upstream looks great.  This should really get the cranking soon.

Yeah the snow has picked up again this morning.  Coming down nicely. 

Light to moderate snow this morning.  Temp down to 31 degrees.

Yeah flooding with freezing temps and about 3 to 6 inches of snow.  Welcome to this wacky winter lol.

Yeah we had a light lull but then back at it currently. 

Schools are letting out around noon because of the localized flooding.  The rainfall has been relentless this morning.

Flood warnings for several counties.  Lots of water running off into creeks and rivers. We still have all day of this also.

Thunderstorms this morning! How exciting!

It has absolutely poured the rain all night. I see no change in that today either. Big problems with flooding I think going through today

Friday looks juicier behind the main rain. Plus a short-wave is forecast so it is hybrid NWF and cyclonic flow aloft.

Saturday that short-wave is filling a bit, but the temp profiles look colder compared to forecast yesterday. Despite lower QPF, snow amounts are not that degraded mountains.

I'm not sure about a big time snow chase; but, I definitely like the skiing. These NC ski areas are specialists in artificial snow augmentation after rain. It'll be fine.

Still early on the track, Catty/Maggie vs Avery Co. Hopefully ALL! 

Thanks for stopping by Jeff. The upslope snow looks really good currently so we shall see. As I mentioned earlier we are lucky to be tracking anything currently. 

Lol the NWS is like im yeah everyone is going to get some flooding. Its going to rain every day from now on.

Just throw in the towel. Have you seen the indicies? Currently we are lucky to be tracking anything. The AO is through the roof lol! This winter has been very frustrating.

For me I'll be glad for anything falling as snow. Thats just how crappy this winter has been.  Still we have a lot of the season left in my opinion.

Yeah we need several years of research for anything solid.  The problem is that the ice coverage is constantly changing and we are in uncharted territory when it comes to the current climate.

Yep just like that we have a sleet rain mix. Heavy sleet now.
