Minimal hummingbird activity at our feeders since Tuesday. Prior to that they were going through 10-12oz a day. Must be starting to head south.

same here.  Bees/yellow jackets have taken over the feeders

  2. i was there for Andrew.. was amazing.. like I posted earlier.. I remember very vividly going to bed as a CAT1 and waking up to panic all over dade/broward counties.. I lived about 5 miles from country walk and the trailer park that many deaths.  I wish I could find some pics will look later, we have a video somewhere.
I was a freshman at U. Of Miami when Andrew hit. I believe the highest wind recorded at the old NHC building across the street from campus was 142 before their equipment got blown off the roof. Spent the storm on the second floor of one of the towers. The roar of the wind was ridiculous and it was pushing water into the hallways through the storm doors.

You have a weather station? We all know airports are the best representation of your home. I had 3 90 degree plus days but many above normal days. Hot summer no doubt but you airport guys....

There's a WU station 1.5 miles from my house, TAN is 5 miles away.   It's been an incredibly hot summer for SEMA since the end of June/start of July....Top 5 at worst.   I don't know what else to tell you

  4. We did our pool 3 years ago.  So happy with it, especially this summer.  Bob designed the farmers porch, which we did at the same time.  Wouldn't change a thing.  We use the porch is like a another family/dining room in spring/summer/fall.

It's not just pools that are impossible to find....I've wired many hot tubs since Covid hit and have a couple more scheduled  Hot tubs and pools are nearly impossible to find right now

  5. Yeah.... barely enough to wet the ground here.... .14 over like 8 hours ain’t going to get it done.... I know Matt (butterfish) and Bob did a bit better.... and Matt is pretty close to me so kind of surprising
Yeah would have been nice to get more but it was something. It was just good to have a couple days without blazing sun and 90s.

  6. Surprised there's not more reports from this band to the SW
Wind is crazy here right now just ahead of that line. Lost power about 20 minutes ago which is very unusual for my neighborhood. Got the generator going but it doesn't power the central AC. I doubt they're sending crews out anytime soon to pull branches off power lines.

I got a co-worker leaving next week for WA to visit family.  His wife and 2 kids are already there.  Gonna look into getting a test out there before they come back.

My wife's parents live in Nova Scotia.  Her Dad is having open heart surgery next week (had a heart attack a few days ago).  She can't travel there to stay with her mom or visit him in the hospital.  If the worst happened, we couldn't go to any services.   It sucks, but I don't blame them for not wanting anyone from the US to come.

How's that going to work with leaves on the trees?  Last time I checked in those nature books, deciduous trees loose their leaves long before Winter.

It's the magic of Christmas Bob...Jeez

  9. I was going to head there today but forecast  seems to have only steadily  worsened the past 48 hrs right at the coast, especially in Maine.. Thinking will have a much better shot at a nice break further south—Rye NH on south...
    Damn meso-lows...

It been awful. We are leaving today to head home because it's been beautiful everywhere but the ME coast. It's the family's house, so it's not a big deal, but....man the weather is terrible here
  10. Someone up the road from me just shot a bunch off, dog is now sitting shaking in the closet
I think I heard that here! It's like a warzone tonight...I also think I heard the explosion from down towards Bob's house about 15 minutes ago. Don't ever remember hearing so many explosions around here this far before the 4th. People are bored I guess...spending their extra $600 per week on mortar shells

Nice but how is it refreshing when the pool is warmer than the air? Mine is 77

It's plenty refreshing.  After staring at the stupid green cover for 8 months of the year, I'm fine with it getting super warm.  The only negative I've had from the water getting so warm is that the PH goes up fast with the temperature.  That screws with the the chlorine levels since its a salt water pool.  Just have to add some "PH Down" stuff every so often.

Oh, that reminds me...A few weeks ago some were talking about "Liquid Pool Cover" to help with temperature and water retention.  I hadn't heard of it, but I lose a lot of water thru evaporation.  I got some and have been using it for a couple weeks.  I think it's working on both fronts.  No negative results so far.
