Very nice day out! And ugh at all that english ivy suffocating those (still upright) trees.
I know. Pretty sometimes but terrible. Like snowmaps.

I've gotta free form it on booze, but please, go ahead and grade me
used to be in a committed relationship with scotch, left it for bourbon (straight up)
tequila only in margaritas
gin is cool but I'm afraid I had...that...experience with it as a novice drinker
vodka isn't thrilling but good w cranberry or dirty martini
CAPE would hate my taste in beer (but c'mon, not all pilsners are trash, aren't there like pilsner snobs somewhere in the wide world of booze snobs?)
Pina colada is a no
Wine is a yes
I forgot Irish Coffee. Every now and then I have to have one. Hot or iced. Putting creme de menthe on top is a sin.

Have you tried Eagle Rare? It’s my favorite, and the only one I will drink straight up.
I have not but I'll check it out!

Funny story. When I was vendor at Camden Yards for all those years, we’d hang out after all the games over at Sliders. Every now and then a couple of players would roll in and one night it was Scott Erickson. I happened to be taking a leak at one of the urinals and he came in and used the urinal next to me. I looked up at him with the straightest face I could muster and said, “Nice bat for a pitcher.” He zipped up, flushed, called me an asshole and walked out. When I came out there was a beer on the bar for me from him.
priceless. I just logged in and am immediately deceased.

before we had subforums, and we were all discussing the same storm in the same thread,
IIRC there was a fair amount of resistance at first to dividing into subforums. You just get used to things as they are, I was too...but actually...that was kind of a mess.

it was probably me (since I started harping on "read more, post less") back at Eastern but i am 100% sure I was not talking about you.
Haha it might have been...I will breathe a sigh of extremely belated relief

We were all beginners once. Some never learn, others get it rather quickly.
FWIW, I enjoy your posts when you make them!
Awww thanks, mappy and back at you!

on the topic of Eastern (I think it was that long ago...) I hardly ever posted but I lived in fear of the purple weenie tag. I remember one time I summoned the courage to post, no doubt something dumb, and a few posts later someone started railing about terrible posts and "read more, post less" and I was mortified. Even though it may not have been me. Newbs these days have it relatively easy ('get off my lawn', etc)

So now for nigh on 10,000 years and millions of posts I have had to KEEP EVERYONE OFF IGNORE so I could read posts and see what gets said to know if and when a post needs to be hidden. It has caused many a day of bleeding eyes.
For this alone, our mods are freaking heroic.

All you people only now hopping on the Ignore train...
It's much more pleasant. The funniest thing is when a bunch of people on ignore are all talking with each other back-to-back and I'm like, phew, glad I'm not reading that!

The ignore list is growing today
I've been around since mostly-lurking on Eastern and I've never used the ignore list until this year. Almost kinda had a policy against it. Unlike some people, I do NOT feel the board is much worse. There have always been terrible posts and knowledgeable contributions alike. Plenty of good posters still and I've always learned a lot and laughed a lot! But I realized I could not keep up when it's busy and needed a filter. Heck I even have my own "storm mode" where I temporarily filter for both quality and quantity. All that said, I don't contribute much besides obs, jokes, and coastal flooding outlooks/results that no one cares about so I get it if I too am on ignore .

I haven't been able to track much but what's more disappointing is that I missed the genesis of the angle of the vorts

Ok, but like text resources like a book or some NOAA pages so I don’t need to interpret posts to learn stuff about phasing and other atmospheric dynamics.
This may be the way my brain works, but I've gotten a lot out of the NWS Glossary. (it says the purpose is to aid the public in understanding NWS products, but it's WAY more than that.) Good for looking up terms you're curious about, or you see mentioned here, or as an endless rabbit hole.
