Wind gusts are incredible right now. Just had one in the mid 40s easy.
Yes the wind seemed to get worse behind the squall line. Happily, no power outage though.

Winds were good but the line pushed through w/very little precip...temp down to 55F.
Same here - missed the worst, fortunately.

Still looks like a chance of snow mid month, but if not, spring can start as long as we don’t go into severe season early. Last summer in our region felt like we were in the Midwest.

Mid March possible snow
Other than that it's over
A window in mid and possibly late March. Maybe we’ll get a rogue big storm in an otherwise mild month like the Old Farmer’s Almanac predicted. Those publications are never reliable, but it does seem like it might be that kind of month. If not, I’m ready for spring and hoping for a better winter for my location next winter. NYC wasn’t too bad.

Power’s back. Hope it stays. Looks pretty icy except for main road through the neighborhood.
-
Soon after I posted that, the power went off. Using cell service. It happens every time there’s anything even little around here - outage. Peco, get your act together!

Temp is down to 29.8 but the rain is too heavy and it’s just running off of everything. Warm temps leading in, definitely a factor. Don’t think we will see much accretion down here even though we are colder than progged. Areas n and w will probably see some issues on vegetation but I’m still pretty skeptical roads will have problems save for maybe far NW areas. Rain is going to be too heavy for that glaze to form on the roadways. Areas that start as snow/sleet and get a little sleet accumulation down may see some issues though.
How much of a threat in my area do you see? Any danger of power outages?
-
I have a Winter Weather Advisory for up to an inch of snow and sleet followed by up to .2 of an inch of ice.

UKMET also an ice hit
Will the warm temps the day before mitigate any ice?

Same to you also if we get more south shifts
Yep, hope we all cash in. This time of year, you never know when your last chance will be.

It'll be interesting to see how much accretion actually occurs considering it could reach 70 in spots Wednesday
That’s true. Something else to keep in mind.

0z GFS looks like a sleet bomb uh oh
I hope it stops bumping north

The GFS is trending already to the other globals but the question is does it trend all the way or do they meet somewhere in the middle.
Probably somewhere in the middle. NYC and PHL could easily get a few inches, with just north getting more.

Power went out here briefly, but then it caused a power surge and had to trip a couple circuits. Some lights were on and some off. That almost never happens.

Same here. The cold definitely bothers me more now than it did when I was a kid...and this comes from someone who could spend hours outside in the dead of winter playing pond hockey. I don't know if I could do it now.
I’ve always hated the heat, but I am in my 40s now so yes extended cold isn’t my favorite if without snow.

To me I understand if you like the warm or whatever the problem is that he tries to find every single thing wrong with anything that has to do with snow. It could be a slam dunk blizzard with nothing wrong and he’ll find something to go against. It does get annoying honestly and that also said for the snow weenies as well. The dude knows his stuff can’t knock that about him
It would be different if he actually would be here and enjoy the snow events, but I don’t remember a time he did. It’s just warm/no or less snow posts up to the event.

I hate this winter. Still waiting for a solid snow and nothing promising to track. Monday doesn't have much of a ceiling. The wettest models (and ens individuals) are rain. It's a lousy setup. Maybe interior SNE and especially NNE has a shot.
Well the good snows have been all around me, also. It’s true that the best chances can come up without much advance notice. I hope that happens again.

Can’t punt on the month on the 3rd. Models even can’t nail things down outside of 48 hours sometimes.

I too enjoy the extreme weather. I was all about Sandy hitting till the wind got right up against us, and that was nerve racking.
I remember the 1994 Ice capades. I remember the power out for 24 hrs, and my Mom getting nervous.
I don't think anyone wants the worst case scenario right on their door, but it's nature. It's gonna do what it wants when it wants like it or not. Got to be ready.
I like big snowstorms, am ok with arctic blasts, and enjoy tracking hurricanes. But tornadoes and ice storms/severe weather that knock out electricity aren’t fun.

Exactly. I may be a strange breed but I enjoy witnessing severe events and the adversity it may cause. (No electricty, internet, heat, icy/snowy roads) Your body shifts into a different gear and you adjust...
It’s the electricity threat that bothers me most. I don’t travel much and can stock up before storms.
