  1. Since I don't remember much before 2004-2005 since I was only around 10-11 years old, here are my top 5 since then;

    1) February 7-8, 2013: This storm dropped 10-18" across the GTA and is one of my personal favourites because up until this storm, that winter was pretty mediocre. 9 hours of straight heavy snowfall and zero visibility with temperatures around 17F made it an amazing storm.

    2) December 15-16, 2007: This storm dropped around 10-14" across the GTA and was the start of what later became one of Toronto's snowiest winters on record (as for many in this sub-forum). Heavy snowfall combined with near zero visibility for hours makes this one of my top 5 storms.

    3) February 6-7, 2008: This storm dropped 12-16" across the GTA and was in between two other storms that dropped 6-9", respectively, in a span of 12 days making it Toronto's snowiest February on record. What makes this storm great is the Thunder snow and near zero visibility through-out the evening and overnight.

    4) December 21-22, 2013: Though this is technically not a snow storm, it is a winter storm because it became known as one of Toronto's worst Ice storms. Total ice accretion was over 1.2", causing significant damage while solidifying the existing snow base which didn't melt till late March.

    5) February 4-5, 2014: This storm dropped around 8-12" across the GTA and was the storm that really strengthened our snow depth to over 20", and helped us have a new record for the number of consecutive snow cover days (~104-110 days).

I am going to Thailand, Indonesia, or New Zealand next year. Debating between those 3.

Speculator pics! That is such a beautiful view. I'm big on travelling and exploring new areas myself.

I went to Thailand this year for two weeks and I must say it was one of the best and most interesting experiences I've ever had. Going to a completely new environment and experiencing the different culture and atmosphere that was there is something to remember about. I would definitely recommend it. If you plan to go to Phuket or the surrounding area, I'd say a max of 2 or 3 days is all you need.

Had a good friend that went to a wedding Friday night, wasn't feeling well. Went for a walk with his mom and sister around the pond, than had a brain aneurysm and died on the spot at 26 years old. Enjoy each day with your family and friends.

Damn, I'm really sorry to hear about your loss. No person should ever have to go through something like that. My condolences and I hope you stay strong. :(

I bet we get to May with most trees not leafed out here.  I see buds on the trees but they are just sort of hanging out in a semi-dormant state.

Normal growing season in the GTA usually begins around the first and/or second week of May with most trees fully out by mid-late May. If this cool pattern continues it may hinder the development here as well.

    Jan 2015

Euro and Nam had 2-3 feet and NYC got 10 inches.

We made it up in Jan 2016 when we got 30 inches of snow with Jonas.

That's funny. But imagine going from 6-10"+ to literally nothing within 24 hours of the storm. And now imagine it constantly, storm after storm. Once you picture that you'll know what I mean by my "compliant" when it comes to storms here in Toronto. We obviously don't see big storms like the east coast but we see more frequent snowfalls, but that has since turned to dust. And it's extremely frustrating as a weather and snow enthusiast.

Yeah, tomorrow night was looking good for the longest while and now it's evaporating. We just keep rolling snake eyes over and over again.

Name a place with a worser climo than us. It's funny cause I watch the east coast storms pretty closely sometimes and unlike in our area where things fall apart as we get closer, things get better as the storm gets closer for them. Just miserable if you're a weather enthusiast. We can't get nothing to work in our favor.

  7. It's funny how almost everyone, besides us in Toronto and Chicago has gotten some type of snow event (>2") since March until now while we haven't gotten crap. Just endless cool weather with nothing to show for it. Pathetic. Now tomorrow nights event is slowly becoming a nuisance on some new guidance, as is next weeks event. I am debating now as to whether there is a snow-dome over Toronto or not. Consider that a new conspiracy . What a lame garbage winter and spring and I think I have every right to say that now as it isn't just a complaint no more. Smh!!

Saying the same thing to myself. Everything finds a way to miss us. Mid-meek storm looks wet too now.

I thought Snowstorms was going off the deep end when back in mid-March he said we wouldn't see 0.9" of snow the rest of the way. Looks like he'll be right. Smh.

 This winter is a joke, straight up joke. I'm over it! I been wanting Spring for the last 2 weeks and it doesn't look like it's happening anytime soon ugh. I never would have thought we'd go mid February thru April 1st without a SINGLE snowstorm. Not even a 2" event, literally nada. Preposterous! Like wtf?

March 2010 was much warmer obviously. But yeah, no measurable snow that winter in March or April.

The core of 2009-10 and 17-18 were much different for YYZ. 09-10 was a futility winter that sucked pretty much from wall to wall. This winter was ok up until the 2nd week in February. Then it disappeared.

Honestly, can't think of a good analog locally for this winter. Usually when the snow season wraps up early it's because of premature spring warmth. Not massive blocking.

March 1962 is the only best analog I can think of. It featured strong atlantic blocking and YYZ barely recorded 2.0" of snow that month and only 0.47" of precipitation. Albeit, February 1962 is a top 5 snowy month at YYZ LOL. Snowfall amounts prior to March 1962, are almost comparable to this season (35.6" this season vs. 47.2" in 61-62).

I mean other than that, I don't know. Bizarre season and for the worst too, smh.

Snowstorms is totally over-reacting. 2011-12 was a BUST with block capitals. Horrible, near record warm December. Compare that to this year where we not only had snow for the run-up to Christmas, but snow ON Christmas Eve and Day, followed by an epic cold snap. This winter, according to Doug Gillham of TWN, averaged out almost dead on normal in the temperature department, maybe slightly below. You simply cannot compare this winter to those of 2011-12 and 2001-02.

Okay, maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration, haha. But regardless, I don't see how this winter can be graded any better than a C. From mid February right thru today (we'll say through March 31st cause nothing is on the horizon), not a single snowstorm. December started off mild and January was a write-off. Had it not been for some LES enhancement, this winter would have been worse than last winter snow wise, lol. It's perhaps more comparable to the likes of 2005-06.

I just hope this winter is the last in this string of bad winters and we turn things around cause I've seen enough.

  11. About to finish March, not to forget the second half of February, without a single snow event (minus localized LES) in Toronto. I don't know what to say. No warmth in sight and watching storms make sudden shifts south as the block suppresses them, has made this the most frustrating and disappointing winter/start to spring I've ever seen. I put this winter up there in the likes of 2011-12 and 2015-16. On top of that, we haven't seen a single storm this entire month and it's what March 23? like wtf!
