  1. It’s snowing something pretty out there in RVA! .
  2. Could you imagine? RVA getting to its annual average snowfall in the span of only two weeks of meteorological winter, ESPECIALLY in a La Niña, would be insane! .
  3. Almost 10 pm and still snowing in Richmond. Crazy. And a really great storm! .
  4. Well, I guess a watch pot truly never boils because I laid down for a nap, and it looks like things picked up a bit while I was asleep. And it’s still snowing! .
  5. I wish we would see heavier stuff in the city. It’s very fine here. Like literal dust. .
  6. And yeah, I’m just eyeballing, but I would put The Fan/Carytown at only a half inch so far. Maybe an inch in some spots. .
  7. What do you think is going on in the city? Weird micro-climate things? Urban heat island effect? I’m genuinely perplexed by how this storm seems so much weaker inside the city limits versus when I was outside of them at my job today day. .
  8. There was much more accumulation already in the Bon Air neighborhood south of Richmond. Back in the city proper, it’s still a heavy coating, and the snowflakes are large in quantity, but very, very tiny otherwise. .
  9. Hope that’s coming our way! It’s very, very light here in Carytown. .
  10. I’m not really sure what’s going on over Richmond proper. It is snowing at a decent clip, but the flakes within the city limits are very minuscule in size. Definitely not going to reach the forecasted amount with these, I wouldn’t think. .
  11. It’s wild the difference between downtown and Bon Air. The grass, trees, and elevated surfaces have been coated for over an hour here, even despite the small flake size. .
  12. It’s lightly starting to snow in Bon Air. .
  13. The NAM is in its range, right? I think that’s what I’ve read here? It shows a similar outcome as the EURO. .
  14. We should move our official reporting to somewhere else. .
  15. December snow really is the best snow. [emoji319][emoji3587][emoji92] From the Fan neighborhood of Richmond this morning. .
  16. December snow is the best snow! [emoji319][emoji92] .
  17. Just woke up here in Richmond. Looks like a healthy coating so far. Radar looks okay, so hopefully we’ll make it to 2 inches before it’s over later this morning. .
  18. Is this thing spilling north of Richmond at the last second? I can’t tell if that’s the overall idea in the main thread, or if DC folks are trolling. .
  19. Nothing in Richmond proper as far as I could tell. I woke up around 3, and it seemed dry as a bone out, with next to nothing on radar. Virginia Beach got actual accumulation. Hell, it even dumped snow all the way down in Myrtle Beach. Feels like it should be illegal, especially this early. Lol. .
  20. I’m going to Maryland Ren Faire on Sunday! Don’t threaten me with a good time! .
  21. This is the heaviest I’ve seen it snow in the Fan all day.
  22. On the bright side, as far as winter totals go, I’m pretty sure this is the closest we’ve had to an average winter in a long time! At least for RVA and surrounding counties, that is.
  23. It can always be wrong. It’s Richmond. But we have many, many more hours of this event to go.
