I agree. I think it might end up being a number 2 on the SnoJoe scale:
- 1-2 inches = Nickels and dimes
- 2-4 inches = Ok, I guess. What's for dinner?
- 4-6 inches = Decent
- 6+ inches = A good snow
Down in the valley, I will put the 2-4 in the good snow category.

Yep, we went to 6 inches or more tomorrow night to less than an inch here and to cold rain all next weekend. Absolutely depressing day of model runs
NWS has upped the WSW area to 3-6 inches. They may have access to something other than these crappy models. Maybe the GFS will have something positive.

Models have sucked today, short range, medium range, long range, range rover, anything with range, sucked.

Yeah I was very surprised that schools were not on a delay this morning. I ran into several spots with black ice...
The worst weather condition. Every other weather condition you at least know it is going to be slick. I am surprised at that too.

Anybody around Candler/Asheville better back off on the accelerator. Temps dropped to 31 with a freezing mist. My wife about slid all the way off the road. Nothing worse than black ice.

6z GFS makes Sunday look pretty interesting. Kind of flying under the radar.

2.5” at my house in Alexander, still snowing pretty hard. That makes 10” total for me this season.

8 inches for the season for me now. Except for a dusting, nothing much from this one. Hopefully, this upcoming pattern produces.

Woke up to a dusting. It was just enough to cover everything including the driveway.
Right there with you.

I had a feeling that "historic" cold for Monday was too far out. GFS still has us below normal, but nothing historic at all. High temps above freezing.
I don't have access to Euro for comparison.GFS went from the coldest in years -3 in Asheville to not even coldest of the season 16. Not that I care if it is that cold, but I do want it cold enough to snow.

Sleet, snow, and chunks of ice falling from the sky. Crazy how some of it is clumping up as it falls. Already coated everything and out performed the last 2 "events" here.
Weren't you in Asheville? Congrats on the snow!!!

I am hoping for a surprise in my little patch of the woods in Candler. I have about 6 inches for the season. You high mountain guys would just walk outside and sneeze that away. But, it has not been that bad except, instead of nickel and diming my way to that, I have pennied my way to it. I wish we could something straight from the Gulf into some Arctic air. Beggars, choosers... all that. The NWF does look good for you guys, like the NWF of years gone by. I wish I was still way out in Leicester for that. Anyway, good luck to all.

Will be quite interested to see what GSP says in the long term AFD this afternoon.
Not too interested I hope.

Looking at close to an inch here in my part of Candler. All streets are white. Not been a huge snow year, but I have about 6 inches so far and it has snowed several times. It has definitely felt like winter. I run a lot... Not like superman StrongWxnc, but a lot and every morning I have ran has been in the 20s. Not that way last year. Getting ready to go snow running here in a little bit. It has been a good winter.

Big time snow showers in downtown Aville. Too bad it is day time. Not sticking. Super pretty though.

Very early in winter? Winter is halfway over. Met winter is what counts. In NC, winter for all intents and purposes ends March 1 except for very anomalous events.
In the mountains, we have snow in March as a general rule, especially where Met1985 is, and many times April. I can't speak for other areas of North Carolina.

Same here not as much as I was hoping for
No, me neither, but really this is a pretty good start to winter. Last year was awful. Snow has started here again.

A little over an inch here. Still pretty to look at. Still better than last year. I am not complaining. We'll see if we can get a little more from the upper low.
