I thought I would get nailed by Met's storm, based on the radar. It just skipped right over. Not even a drop! I heard plenty of thunder after it went by.

Another .75 inch here. 1.5 for the last 2 days. I have been in a good spot. I am sure that I will move out of the good spot eventually.

If we can make it through the summer, it should turn noticeably wetter late fall.
As far as winter. Who knows? 82/83 was not particularly cold by 80s standards but we did have 3 winter storms capped off by the record March snowfall.
97/98 was warm with virtually no winter weather but lots of severe. 15/16 we did have the one good snow in January. Oddly, I don’t remember much else about that winter.
Edit: Forgot about 22/23. I remember the really cold Christmas when we got down to 5 degrees IMBY but no other winter weather that winter.
January '98 had a 16 inch snowstorm at my house. It was warm before and after though.

Interesting. It’s been so long since we’ve had one I forgot
Me too! I had to look it up. I had no idea.

Aren’t El Niños typically wetter on the east coast? With a total of 0.01” for April and no chance of rain till mid month at earliest, it could be dire straights around here unless we get a good soaking second half of month, not good
Wetter in the winter. Drier in the summer.
". For much of the southeastern United States during the summer of an El Niño event, the climate is usually warmer and drier. "

I remember Gary. He was a great meteorologist. A lot of people forget that Mike Bettes came from WLOS also.
He did! There was another recent guy who is on Weather Nation. His name escapes me.

Does anyone remember this storm? The Spring Snowstorm of April 2-5, 1987. I was not living here but ran across this today. WOW-
I definitely remember it. One of my favorite snowstorms ever!

I didn’t because I was a weee lad but I read about it today. That would have been amazing.
I was living in Boone at the time. It was epic. It didn't matter that it was April. Here is write up from Gary Stepenson, who worked at WLOS.

Yikes I ended up with more than you.
Since I posted that, I have had enough rain to get to .15, but still not a lot. Better than zero though.

.09 inches so far. That's the extent of my rain. It has been hard to get good rain.

I will go with a B. 11 inches of snow. Reached 0 degrees, which that had been a while. A nice snow in the teens. Pretty good winter.

This band of moisture is not as heavy as what the Hi Res models were showing earlier today. I think that's the main culprit along with the temperatures of course.
Good assessment. Still enough moisture for something. A dusting would be a win.

Hi Res NAM says a dusting at best now for Asheville. Compare that to 3 inches the last run
I haven't given up yet, but that sounds about typical. Still hoping for a surprise.

Nice! I am glad that it rained anywhere. We all need it. Boyer showed it hammering in South Buncombe too.
