This morning around Asheville it seems if you drive up the right hill you switch to snow.
There is a mountain I can see no more than 200 feet above my elevation and you can see the snow falling and snow in the trees. Here, just every so often snowflakes.

It's hard to beat the Lees McRae webcam. (Obviously, time sensitive, lol)

The ones that need your sarcasm, met1985, probably would not even realize that you're being sarcastic, lol.

Take it with a grain of NaCl, but the 6z GFS op brings a series of snow chances. These show up and disappear run to run. Hopefully, they start getting in a 5 day window. GSP not very excited by the upcoming upslope. It looks better to me than what they think, but they have forgotten more than I know.

It will probably change, but GFS op looks good for multiple MTN chances after this week.

Just made it to 10 here. But, I ran 6 miles at 10 degrees, so there is that. I'm not StrongWXnc, but not bad for 5 months short of 60. Looks like a warm week, with a "shot" of something wintry a week from Monday.

Roads are already covered up here. It's slacked off a bit since earlier this morning but I'm excited to get out and explore some once the sun comes up
You missed the black ice here. Apparently, really slick. Jealous? Just kidding !!!
I know snow beats black ice any day of the week. I love Banner Elk. I hope you get blitzed with snow. Take lots of pictures.

21 degrees and actually a few flurries. Definitely feels like winter despite missing out on big snow.

Late in a NAM run, but it really picks up on the upslope at the end of the run.

Any of you border counties picking up anything? I have a friend just over the border in TN that says 23 and freezing drizzle. They said it is a skating rink there.

7 degrees Wed morning. 47 and rain Thursday afternoon. Nice. There is a snow likely Thursday night (with of course they always awesome, little or no accumulation) but I will believe it when I see it.
Anyway, good luck to all. At a minimum, maybe we can all avoid busted pipes.

GFS gonna keep the gravy train rolling for ETN and the high elevations this weekend. I feel bad for Asheville and those east of the Apps. It's painful at this point.
We'll get ours before the winter is done. There is time.

Looks like it's finally snowing half-way decent up on Mt. Mitchell. Had a family member say it was sleeting in Marion. Not a flake or raindrop here in AVL.
It was raining pretty good from Weaverville to almost downtown, nothing in town, and picked up again about Brevard Rd near the outlets. Temps were 35 in Weaverville, 41 in town, and 37 here in Candler. Really varied conditions today. No snow though.

So, I was bored. I drove 26 to find snow. I got to Buckner Gap 3370 ft and there was a mix. I got to Sam's Gap and there was the beginning of snow with some on the ground in TN. There was more in TN but it diminished quickly.
A few miles outside Erwin, the temp dropped to 30 and it was pouring snow. Snow on the ground and snow on the interstate. A few miles down the road in Erwin was a mix again though there was some on the ground.
I turned around there and got back to Sam's Gap and it was heavy snow on the TN side, but quickly diminished on the NC side.
Bottom line, the cold air in the upper atmosphere is somewhere near Erwin, TN. It was fun to see snow for a little bit.

Just made my drive from Marion to Asheville. Not even a flurry and you can clearly see the top of the black mountain range. They aren't even getting snow at 6k.
We've been between 33 & 35 here in Candler. When we did have some light precip, it was rain.

Dry as a bone up here in the foothills of Asheville. I've bounced back and forth between 39 and 42 all morning.

I thought you would have 3 or more by now honestly. You can never underestimate the power of a warm nose.
That plus no moisture. You want 4 inches of flooding rain. At your service my good man ! You want even just a few flurries, go to hell, lol!!!!

I can see a mountain no more than 200 feet above my elevation and you can see the trees in snow and snow falling. Ridiculous. I guess snow drought begets snow drought. Oh well, on to the next one.
