  1. earlier a met posted 1-3 for this area and i thought he was nuts.....turns out he was overestimating. next.....
  2. like general gordon's rescue party in khartoum....
  3. didn't even pick up 1.....clearly over in nj. if that ruins it somehow for those who actually got a snow event, try looking at it from our point of view....we know we are not always in the bullseye, no one ever is....but come on man, i legit had more snow from the minor event earlier this week....since not much was expected, getting half an inch of fluff was a nice surprise. getting half an inch when at the low end 3-6 was expected, and 4-8 being the general call, is just a massive bust. in today's day and age, with all this more sophisticated equipment, they still make the kind of whacked out misses i used to see 25-30 years ago. i had relatives leave the state early to avoid the storm; then again, not really sorry about that....so maybe there was a silver lining....anyway enjoy what you got. watched two bizarre movies to pass the time, chainsaw man and bugonia....don't waste your time on either of them.
  4. not even you were this bearish....credit it where it is due. this thing sucked in most of nj. feel bad for arguing with the dude at the gas station today when he thought i said cash when filling the tank for the snowblower.....
  5. this has got to be one of the biggest busts in this area in years; i'm thinking not quite as bad as jan 2007, where there was a heavy snow warning and nothing happened at all..... but this was bad for our area. worst in a decade or more. it's barely a car topper, jfc.....there ain't nothing filling in here; this thing is done out here.
  6. never snowed here; all sleet and didn't even cover the grass. there's a bit of a glaze but as far as sleet storms go, this doesn't even register much in that regard out this way. at this point, nothing is going to save the day here, so i'm good with a quick exit. snow blowers are ready for an actual snow storm should we get another one this winter. cheers.
  7. this sucks for us. no other way to spin it. we just aren't in the mix. that's ok when expectations are muted, but all this talk of biggest storm in four years....we had nearly a foot here in feb 24. it's a wide subforum, i know, but a sleetfest, and not all that big of one, was just not expected. at least i'm watching a bad movie with my daughter, chainsaw man, which i can't make heads or tails of, but its quality time with the daughter, i guess....
  8. oh yeah the snow thing is kaput. i can see that. looking forward to the next threat, hope it isn't a month from now.....
  9. i heard nothing about freezing rain here; but nj 101.5 which i hate listening to but i needed a traffic update, did forecast it.
  10. maybe not; sleet is a real hazard and they would rather not give people the idea its ok to hit up the bars at the jersey shore.....
  11. its been my experience that, when this happens, even areas expected to do well fall short. seen it a thousand times. i don't think anyone is gonna get buried at this point. that's been my experience over the years.
  12. yeah you called it. i'm not expecting much to talk about in my neck of the woods. any time i hear about warm noses, waa etc it almost never works out for my area. hopefully we get some better rates but i'm not putting money on it.
  13. a couple inches of sleet is great for sledding if that's your thing. no worries there; if cold enough we have had visitors from south america who enjoyed sledding in little over an inch.
  14. so...there was concern about sleet at the end of the storm.....looking like an all night sleet fest to me around here. seen it a thousand times. hope it changes. sleet just isn't all that interesting to me. on any level.
  15. same, and not that heavy either. it's a lighter sleet, not the heavy pellets.
  16. that's actually edison....but yeah not a good look right now. some say it will change over. i've not seen that often over the years....
  17. some are getting the heavier bands as sleet though, if i'm reading correctly.
  18. yeah. don't like what i'm seeing so far. light sleet here in woodbridge.
  19. perhaps i came off harsh, in retrospect....who knows exactly where the mix sets up and for how long. locals have us 6-10, but we have struggled in recent years to top 5-6, except for one anomaly in feb 24. what people here are hearing is confusing....because we get mostly nyc radio....everything from biggest storm in 4 years to sleet and drizzle.....and all of those things can be true.
  20. and there should be. we've had two fatalities at my parkway exit in a week. i see accidents every freakin day on route one and 287. this is without bad weather. frankly, driving in nj IS a state of emergency....for all of us. texting has killed us.
  21. this isn't really a big snowstorm for anyone though, really....maybe someone gets 10 somewhere, but this is a very normal snow for this area all things considered; trenton area often does ok; i'd say i wouldn't be surprised at all if mercer areas get 4-5 with some sleet. of course the usual areas north and east will jackpot, but that is not the same as seeing nothing. just my opinions not based on anything but decades of observation; in fact, many times people would be commuting from trenton to nyc and people there would not believe them when they said they were delayed by snow...people used to laugh at them. this was back in the day of course......
