  1. It doesn’t even look that impressive but it’s snowing heavily.
  2. The Weather Channel had someone in Amarillo TX and it looked like he was in the middle of a lake effect band. I would not want to be driving on I40 tonight.
  3. Including this afternoon’s non lake effect snows I must be near 2 inches already.
  4. Very nice parachutes that are accumulating quite efficiently. The polar (pun intended) opposite of the flakes last night.
  5. It looks like the band is organizing on a wnw orientation. It’s snowing steadily here with good flake size.
  6. Does anyone know what’s going on with the King City radar on the Canadian side? There has to be more activity coming off Georgian Bay than it’s showing. It’s been that way for a while.
  7. You heard of the perfect storm, well this is the imperfect storm.
  8. Looks like the beginning of our band offshore of Niagara County.

  10. I got 13 inches out of that 12/29 lake effect storm. That’s the one storm I outdid you guys. Since then I’ve had a decent snow cover for 7 straight weeks.
  11. I’m going to go out on a limb and predict I get more snow off the lake tonight then I did last night (3 inches). Of course the liquid equivalent won’t be the same.
  12. I measured only 3.1 inches of snow, sleet and ice which melted don to 0.65 inch. That’s a ratio of around 5:1. If the 0.65 inch was all snow at 10:1 it would have given 6.5 inches of snow. At 12:1 would have been close to 8 inches.
  13. They’re from Rochester so they used the standard Rochester method of snow measurement.
  14. The airport observation is reporting UP which is usually sleet. Could be a mix.
  15. That matches what I’m getting here. It started snowing hard about 10 and I’ve got about 2 inches now maybe a little more. If it would snow like this until even 5 we would have at least 6 inches but I’m afraid the taint is going to catch up eventually.
  16. Midway airport in Chicago had two hours of 3 in/hr snow this evening and it’s still snowing heavily. The morning rush should be a mess.
  17. The report from the airport there is alternating between sleet and snow.
  18. I agree with you. In the Syracuse area we might mix for a while but the mix line is not racing north. I don’t understand all the negativity on this board but that has become the norm lately. It’s been snowing pretty good here for the last 45 minutes.
