  1. Yea, there are definitely pros and cons to both sides. The more it is talked about the more I hear people starting to waver in their want to have one time.
  2. I actually think schools will have no choice but to change their schedules. It is why this attempt failed after one year in 1974. Cannot see how you have young elementary kids standing in the dark and its not optimal for any kids really. It's not as big of an issue in big cities as much as it is in more rural areas. Work may then have to adjust as well. 9-6 work may be coming in that no one with children gets to work until 9 or later (at least one of the parents).
  3. I keep reading comments about how its better to be light in the evening. It literally is a situation where children seem to have been forgotten. The school conundrum is in addition to the fact that it appears people are split on which time is better. I read an article yesterday that said it was a fairly even split between the people who wanted to abolish time change: half wanted it to be standard and half savings as the permanent time.
  4. I thought it was weird when he said that as well. I do not know anyone that sleeps past 7AM and most not past 6AM.
  5. And we have Mid-April Easter snow on the docket.
  6. If that was just audio, I would have sworn it was the Terminator.
  7. Congrats AO. Number 3 all time. He scores whether savings or standard time.
  8. Most of the country did it in 1974. Stayed DST. It was pulled back the next year. Richard Nixon.
  9. If they make it until tomorrow, that will be 5 consecutive days of boots on the ground for snow.
  10. Another thing staying in DST will do is increase the frequency of school 2 hour delays and/or cancels (or remote days). Cannot have busses going around when its dark and icy at 8:30AM. Or make school 9-5 and change everyone's work schedule.
  11. Yep, but paweather was depressed so I though it would make him feel better. LOL.
  12. My wife said schools times will have to change. Cannot have kids in the dark waiting for a bus.
  13. @paweather, 18z gfs has you snowing at hour 186.
  14. LOL! What a crock, IMO. I have never had a pet that cared when they woke up if the wake up include the food bowl. I do not have a real opinion on the time thing other than I would rather keep the time on Winter/Standard time if we are not going to switch. Our Pets will survive either way! LOL.
  15. One reason for this is the extensive issue of computers ALA Y2k. Not the Windows or Mac's sitting at your desk, the code running back end systems. DST type stuff is programmed in countless routines running systems all across the country.
  16. Has there been more than one day above 70 this year? Maybe, cannot remember. 1990 had 4 days in the 80's before St Pats day. Edit-just checked. 2 days so far but MDT is only at 66 as of 3 PM. So I looked at one year, 1990....it had 5 days above 70 before St Pats day (and St Pats day was in the 70's as well). So, not such a rare feat. Only one day in March, March 1, does not feature record high temps in the 70's. 17 out of the 31 March days have records 80 and over.
  17. I predict you will have the word snow in your zones before the end of the month.
  18. Down to about 5% snow coverage. Will all be gone except drifts and piles...before dark.
  19. We coldinista's think it should be November to April. 50/50 spilt.
  20. Ha. We had May snow recently. I think one thing the warminista's needs to remember is that there has been little winter weather in October as of recent times. And November has not been a peach either except 2018. Is it fair that coldinista's only get 3 -4 out of 12 months? :-)
  21. LOL, its only March 15th in one of the least snowiest winters ever.
