  1. Only 52 here right now. Much cooler than yesterday at this time.
  2. Yea, it is a fine line. It is the same way with school, Parents come and take their kids out of school, for the day or week, for all kinds of reasons that did not happen "in the past". I have read a lot of article son this, over the past 24 hours, and the benefits that keep getting pushed are less heart attacks, more spending and less car crashes and less robberies. I would have thought something like this would have been better to go to a national vote so everyone can think of their own likes and dislikes and vote accordingly.
  3. Yea, I mentioned that yesterday but if they move school back an hour then it may negate. That would also necessitate businesses moving back their employees start times in some cases.
  4. Ha. The only pitfall I see with that is parents...having to adjust work times. I know a lot of people work at home now but not that many.
  5. Some talk in schools about doing their own changes. School starts at one time during the winter and a different time in the fall and spring.
  6. I know, that is what we are talking about...the virtues, trials and tribulations of it. They did it in 1974 but permanent became one year when it switched back.
  7. I think the adjustment need, to stay on Standard time, would be to delay spring sports a bit. I know that pushes it into more potential heat. But if we were on Standard time on April 15th, for example, that is 6:48PM Sunset. May 15 would be 7:18PM. It is easy to see why it has been hard to adjust though. People want a different time in winter vs. summer. Many have no need to sit outside in December at 5:30PM except in areas of the country where it is tolerable (re: Arizona not changing times.)
  8. Yea, there are definitely pros and cons to both sides. The more it is talked about the more I hear people starting to waver in their want to have one time.
  9. I actually think schools will have no choice but to change their schedules. It is why this attempt failed after one year in 1974. Cannot see how you have young elementary kids standing in the dark and its not optimal for any kids really. It's not as big of an issue in big cities as much as it is in more rural areas. Work may then have to adjust as well. 9-6 work may be coming in that no one with children gets to work until 9 or later (at least one of the parents).
  10. I keep reading comments about how its better to be light in the evening. It literally is a situation where children seem to have been forgotten. The school conundrum is in addition to the fact that it appears people are split on which time is better. I read an article yesterday that said it was a fairly even split between the people who wanted to abolish time change: half wanted it to be standard and half savings as the permanent time.
  11. I thought it was weird when he said that as well. I do not know anyone that sleeps past 7AM and most not past 6AM.
  12. And we have Mid-April Easter snow on the docket.
  13. If that was just audio, I would have sworn it was the Terminator.
  14. Congrats AO. Number 3 all time. He scores whether savings or standard time.
  15. Most of the country did it in 1974. Stayed DST. It was pulled back the next year. Richard Nixon.
  16. If they make it until tomorrow, that will be 5 consecutive days of boots on the ground for snow.
  17. Another thing staying in DST will do is increase the frequency of school 2 hour delays and/or cancels (or remote days). Cannot have busses going around when its dark and icy at 8:30AM. Or make school 9-5 and change everyone's work schedule.
  18. Yep, but paweather was depressed so I though it would make him feel better. LOL.
  19. My wife said schools times will have to change. Cannot have kids in the dark waiting for a bus.
  20. @paweather, 18z gfs has you snowing at hour 186.
  21. LOL! What a crock, IMO. I have never had a pet that cared when they woke up if the wake up include the food bowl. I do not have a real opinion on the time thing other than I would rather keep the time on Winter/Standard time if we are not going to switch. Our Pets will survive either way! LOL.
