yes just like in Nino where you can have a stretch of no southern stream...it can be the same for a Nina. Last year there was some southern stream but no interaction with northern branch

here is another example. Nice cold air push here but there isnt anything within 1000 miles that could spark a storm.

the issue is everything is out of sync. there is nothing lining up that gets us cold with moisture. When there is a rare Southern Stream moment...its too warm. When its cold...we are relying on a a clipper diving down. None of things will really work

yes. Models have nothing to do with a bad pattern

digital snow on the models is important unless the pattern doesent support it. Then you know its a one off. However, when we are in a good pattern, seeing digital snow whether it verifies or not should be something that pops up on almost every run from one or more of the models

There is a reason I am obsessed with digital blue. If it’s not showing up on the maps, it’s not gonna show up in your yard.

We didn’t but areas just to our south and east did . We had snowcover the entire month

Last year at this time we were seeing 8-12 inches in the ensemble mean for 2 weeks out This year…this is something you see in the worst of winters
