New month, new observations. Post them here.
Currently 88/78. Got my backyard cut in anticipation of tomorrow's rain.
About time. I’ve been waiting all day for someone to start this thread so I could pin it.

My wife has had bad headaches and neck stiffness ever since her second Pfizer shot and my brother-in-law developed heart inflammation. I’m waiting until Novavax releases their shot based on more traditional technology. I’m not really enthusiastic about being a guinea pig.
Careful. You don’t want to became a Charles (Charley) Havlat.

The rivers are pitifully low here, I hope we get a couple inches of rain with this next front for the last hoorah of trout fishing before fall
If the water is low enough just reach under the rocks and pull them out by hand.

I was in Morris and Sussex County. I know you taught and lived in West Milford. I was more in the Lafayette area where I grew up. I drive around to Sunrise Mtn , Frankford, Newton, Sparta, Jefferson area. I drove around Dover, Rockaway, Roxbury as well and saw a bunch of friends I haven't seen in a while. It was nice to be back home, but it definitely has changed since I left there in 1999.
You did some touring. When I went back to West Milford 6 years ago I was amazed at how little it had changed. Still a small rural town in population but large in area. The population was almost exactly the same at the last census as it was back in the 1960s in the mid 20K range. The township is about 80 sq miles which I think is the largest in the state. However, a high percentage of the land area is set aside as Newark watershed that can only be used for hunting and fishing. It really was a great place to grow up but when I say I grew up in NJ people think the Jersey turnpike NJ. West Milford is much more like small New England town.

I’m putting this here because it is the most active thread. I was going over all my saved links from the past and ran across this one that I had completely forgotten about. You may already know this one but in case you don’t I am posting the link. It is worldwide but can zoom on to local. It has many, many layers you can view from wind patterns to ocean wave patterns to pollution levels. One of the more interesting things to me is the world wide webcams. It is just stop action over the past 24 hours but there are hundreds of them from Montana to Mongolia. I hope you enjoy playing around with it while we endure the summer heat.

Picked up .19" at home. It was a beautiful day here in North Jersey too until about two hours ago the humidity is back and it feels like it outside
Where are you in North Jersey? I grew up in NJ.

Another amazing San Diego day in summer! A high of 77 in the Triad today!
Yep. I mowed today and didn’t even have to put on my bright white mowing shirt.

It appears that the worst (or best) of it will pass to my west unless what’s now in Rockingham County expands shortly. I’m ready for bed, but I think I’ll go sit on the porch and watch it rain on others vicariously.
It’s still coming but now shows signs of some weakening. Less lightning in the last half hour. I think by the time it reaches me on the Guilford/Randolph border it will be just be a short period of moderate rain and maybe a rumble of thunder.

Mean looking line of storms in southern VA approaching the state line. The outflow boundary is very pronounced on the KFCX radar.
Looks like it is holding together. In fact it seems to be getting stronger. Surprising for this time of the evening.

Was feast or famine in central NC over the last week. We’re up to 3.77” for the month which is probably middle of the road, though it was much more hit or miss here than western and eastern sections of the state. Looks to be going very dry again. I know the farmers in central NC are absolutely struggling this year so hopefully our rainfall will come more consistently, instead of a 2-3 day bout of rain with the remainder of the month dry. We will see
1.75” for the month here. Enough to green things up at least for a while.

I’m trying to move my retired parents from TN to NC and this is the absolutely worst real estate market to try to do it in. Great for sellers, but terrible for buyers. At their advancing age, they’d like to sell their current home and lease here so they don’t have to worry about maintenance, etc. The inventory is slim, the prices are ridiculous, and the few houses that are available are snapped up in what seem to be hours.
It is definitely a seller’s market. It will reverse but probably not for a year or so.

Well it looks like the NWS really blew the forecast today. Had a 100% chance of heavy thunderstorms today and so far it has been sunny with a few clouds here and there. I know of several festivals that were cancelled due to the forecast.
The foothills got your rain and are still getting it. Should be some fairly impressive totals by the end of the day.

My patience finally paid off. I was at ZERO all day long with storms in all directions, but then this evening a strong storm moved in from the northwest along the Virginia border. I was expecting it to weaken considerably by the time it reached me, but it held together. I’ve reach 0.94” in 28 minutes. I should end with over an inch by the time it clears out.
I’ve been watching that one on radar and figured you were getting a good shot of rain. It is presently sliding by me just to the east. I am up to a big 0.02” now.

You guys must have had a lot less rain than me. I've only had about half the amount of rain through May that I had last year but it's still above average. After nearly 3 and a half years of nothing but rain on top of rain I have been happy for the drier past two months, though I still had nearly 5 inches last month.
Just less than 2” here.

The rain roulette wheel is spinning this week. Best chances for rain throughout the southeast over the next few days than we’ve had in many weeks.
Even my weed yard is showing signs of distress but it is much greener than many of the “fancy” lawns around here.
