I averaged 0.9”, somewhat of a surprise having been on the south shore for most of the day.

Went from small-ish flakes to plain rain to chunky flakes in Lake Grove.
And back to rain.

This is wild. Roads snow covered now. The layer of sleet set the table before. Roads are a mess
That’s crazy, virtually no accumulation by Smith Haven Mall. I see a little white on small sections of barren dirt/mulch, but grass and roads are just wet.

Wow, we have close To an inch on cold surfaces here, north lynbrook. Almost all rain now though
I’m surprised, that’s pretty far south.

36 with light to occasionally moderate snow in Lake Grove, no accumulation. That “it’s gonna snow” feel outside a few hours before an event remains undefeated.

Assuming we had an inversion overnight because it smelled like a racetrack this morning.
Low was 24 with heavy frost.

Seeing everyone panic in the storm thread is better than seeing snow.

Maybe a month from now we will be saying over 11" of snow this month..........
I’ll take a few penny and nickel events, no dimes please. I’ll also be happy with nothing, I’m still worn out from the 2010’s.

I’ve seen a couple of moths flying around on two separate occasions over the past week.
Over 11” of rain this month.
I’m not complaining, I’ll take it over being cold. I saw snow twice last month in Wisconsin, it also dropped to 11 degrees, which I wasn’t dressed for, coming from a subtropical climate and all.

2.70” and counting, December, which was only slightly ahead of July, is now the wettest month of this year. All rain.
1. December: 10.60”
2. September: 8.40”
3. July: 7.80”
Year: 60.70”
This month is probably the first to breach the 10” mark for my PWS, and this is easily the wettest year on record, very feast or famine though with a few months being bone dry with less than 2”.

Just ventured south up and over Bald Hill (~330ft ASL), relying partially on memory as its pitch black, in the densest fog of I’ve ever seen (no exaggeration). Immediate changeover at/after the summit to perfectly clear conditions. I’d only ever seen that happen on planes, not at ground level.
No lights on that stretch of road, everyone heading north will be plunged into instant darkness. I took a different way heading back.
Looks and feels more like Halloween than Christmas, especially with the full moon somewhat visible earlier when the fog was thinner, very haunted atmosphere out there.

Grass is nice and green headed into the new year
The deep green grass + pine tree combo makes it look more like spring or fall.

Soil temp still comfortably in the 50’s, impressive for almost-late December. Last winter it dipped under 40 for a grand total of 30 minutes (I wish I was joking) on the morning of Feb 5th.

Full on low/mid-end tropical storm conditions on Route 112 in Medford. Rain falling in sheets and traffic lights blowing around.
-
Getting some thunder now. It’s been a while.
-
4.12” event total. Forgot to post. This is like the second or third 4”+ rain event of the year.
DP touched 60 as well which is sort of extreme for mid Dec.

Graupel in Hauppauge. Caught me off guard.

Alternating between light and moderate snow in Wisconsin. Strange sight after last winter, it caught me off guard even though I knew it was going to snow.
-
My high was also 58, down to 49 now.

Just under 2.50” here.
Two Mdt to high impact events NYC subforum; wknd Jan 6-7 Incl OBS, and mid week Jan 9-10 (incl OBS). Total water equiv by 00z/11 general 2", possibly 6" includes snow-ice mainly interior. RVR flood potential increases Jan 10 and beyond. Damaging wind.
