  1. Nice! Looked about the same here in Otsego when I left for work before 0700 although it was still pretty dark out.
  2. Numerically, we've done many tests. But we have done them in a highly ineffectual way, with many tests being useless because turn around time has been so long. Our federal government has completely failed us. Now they're openly surrendering, per Mark Meadows comments. It's disgraceful. When has America been so content with failure, so content to let thousands die unnecessarily?
  3. Yeah we done here. I was in the Hudson Valley (New Paltz) over the weekend and they were at peak. It was a beautiful foliage weekend at Minnewaska.
  4. It's an interesting debate, for sure. We are a family of 5, and we typically downhill ski 8 or 10 days a year in a good year. Plattekill is our favorite local place. My wife and I nordic ski 3 or 4 days a week. Our kids are 10 and 12, We usually get them a season ski rental for their downhill gear. This year after looking at the downhill situation we elected not to get the kids ski rentals. I don't envision us going more than once or twice.
  5. That last round certainly over performed up here. Trees down all over the place, many people without power for 24 hours. I've never seen so many local road closures and utility crews all over the place in such a small area.
  6. We had a leaf blizzard here during that storm. Trees are down to 1/3 foliage now. It's going to be the earliest we have wrapped up leaf cleaning in the 20 years we have been here. Usually we are just starting now.
  7. No doubt he’s feeling really good all loaded up with steroids. Let’s see how the next week goes. I’d say there’s a 50% chance he is re-admitted to the hospital.
  8. I'd advance central NY near Cooperstown to past peak on that map. We had spectacular colors over the weekend. The rain has brought down at least 50% of those colorful leaves and the remainder are getting dull quickly.
  9. Well done. I packed it in after 35 minutes. If anyone needs evidence of what a country in major decline looks like, show them that debate.
  10. There's not much holding the leaves on here. We are changing colors by the day and with almost no rain the last 2 weeks they are going to come down quickly in wind and rain I think. Could be a very compressed foliage season.
  11. 62F inside, 38F outside but no way am I turning on the heat or starting the pellet stove yet!
  12. I remember it well because my wife was attending a conference at Stowe. We spent a fortune, bundled up 3 kids for a 4 day trip, and had the worst conditions we've ever seen. I mean worst conditions for any outdoor human activity, not just skiing.
  13. Yep that's been my experience here as well. We are now at almost 3 weeks without a new case diagnosis here (Otsego County). I wear a mask as a courtesy to others when I'm out and about, not because I fear corona especially when I'm outdoors. An enclosed space like a Gym with potentially lots of people, heavy breathing, sweating and touching the same equipment......I'm not sure how I feel about that. I'm not a Gym person but the sports I do participate in, there's no way to wear a mask and still be able to breathe. Makes me a little more nervous.
  14. So for discussions sake: Let's say there were no formal government rules regarding re-opening the Gym. What measures would you want in place to make you feel comfortable being there? Masks? Distancing? Temperature check at the front door? Wipe downs on the equipment between users?
  15. Plus the timing happened to be terrible for hockey. So you resume some sort of abbreviated season end or playoffs now, in a couple of cities, with no fans present. Right now the players are back at home so to even do that you have to reassemble the teams and start practicing and getting back in shape all over again before you can even play. Who is going to watch that? I'm a Sabres fan, used to disappointment with my team but I would still watch the playoffs every year. This year I have zero interest in hockey. It ended 2 months ago.
  16. Yeah there’s no way this works for the NHL. They need the gate. The NFL contracts for TV and merchandising are so lucrative that they could make it work. Not that they will be happy with the revenue hit either but they can make it work. I don’t know much about baseball.
  17. We went out for ice cream on Sunday with another family. The outdoor seating was closed so everyone was hanging out by their cars. None of us in our group (2 families, total 10 people) was wearing a mask. A few people in other groups were but maybe 10% of all the customers. We haven't had a new case diagnosed in our county in almost 3 weeks. Plus we were outside in the sun on a breezy day. I think there was very little risk of anything happening in that setting. I agree with Delta, we have to get back to life starting with baby steps like going out for ice cream or hanging out in people's yards.
  18. Dr. Google says lots of things....but the symptoms you are describing are worrisome. I hope you feel better soon.
  19. Wolfie I would be asking more questions about your diagnosis. Strictly speaking, gastritis shouldn't be causing the respiratory symptoms you are having. I hope you have a primary care Doctor/Nurse you can follow up with. Feel better.
  20. I hear you and I'm sorry I came across that way to you. I can assure you I'm no liberal. There's only one picture in my office at work that isn't of my family. It's Ronald Reagan. I'd describe myself as a never-Trump conservative. Unsubstantiated attacks from both side of the political aisle deserve to be scrutinized, no matter which side you are standing on yourself.
  21. Fair enough, but being liked has never been a priority for me. But lighten up a little. You post lots of good information and thoughtful analysis. That post last night sounded like the unhinged content straight from the Hannity show. Wondering where it came from?
  22. You didn't have enough information (fair enough).....yet you jumped all over a supposed Democrat conspiracy regarding the testing and spewed it out to a message board. Can you see the problem we have as a society when people take that approach?
