I played there a bunch for free when they first opened, both courses. North is better. I hooked up one of our forum members with 25 dollar fees one year. It was a blast when I could play, beautiful course. That lake is filled with big bass too and there are a ton of huge snakes around

    That was me thanks again,

have a friend up here who grew up in stonington and has an aunt who works there , who hooked us up last year

Has anyone ever tried sand to to level off a lawn?  I have a lot of bumps in my front yard that leads to scalping on my tractor.   Makes sense its what golf courses use on greens

I tried it for some low areas, it leveled it out fine but I didn’t use the right kind of sand, make sure you get the right sand. that area tends to dry out in the summer because the sand was too fine and gets hard packed. I have fine fescue and keep it long , I just raked it in the level it out, that part worked ok

Good luck! I always struggle with the notion of is it better to pay off bills or perhaps invest. I've tried to do alot of research into this and I really haven't found any conclusive evidence towards which is better. What my thinking has leaned towards is if you can pay down or pay off as many bills/debt as possible now that opens up even more room for investing down the road and also opens up much more money for yourself down the road. Others have stated...just pay the minimum on all your bills and live life lol.

If your debt is revolving credit (credit cards) you should pay it off . Don’t carry balances, as has been said, interest rates are th key determinant and most CC have high rates. As for paying off mortgages, money is “cheap” (low rates) right now so it tempting to use that money to invest as long as you can beat the return. The caveat is mortgages are expensive over their life and you can pay more in interest than in principle so paying off the mortgage makes sense, that’s what it did for my mother, if your a risk averse investor that COA makes sense. Then use the money you save from each months mortgage payment and invest it overtime , dollar cost average into investments rather than do it all at once, dampens out the (wild) swings in the market. Any good financial advisor should ask you about your tolerance for risk and go from there.

     Anyways my thoughts.

Yeah from the golds there are a lot of long carries, love the course but play can be really slow there, especially on weekends

  6. Looking forward to the PGA, tight fairways, will be interesting to see if Bryson’s bomb it regardless will pay off. Koepka will be there, he always is. Should be fun to watch championship anything.

gotta hand it to the PGA, they have handled Covid well with the logistics challenges of moving your whole setup every week. Good on the players for staying clean, even when it looked dicey in the beginning with some guys getting it. Don’t think there has been a case in a month. If golf can do it, you hope football can as well.

  7. OSome of the courses you play in Florida are unbelievable with houses right off the fairway. I pull hooked a ball and broke a window one time, the person came out and tried to get me to pay for a replacement. I had to laugh... felt bad though I ripped that sucker good

This is your best bet from big box store stuff. They are hard to eradicate, may take a couple of apps.

It’s worked for me as well, as noted may require mor3 than one app, but give it a week or two to judge results

I always seem to struggle at that course. I used always park my first tee shot into the backyards right, but now my hook really gets me into trouble all over the place. I think last time I played there I couldn't hold the greens. If you hit the middle it would roll off every time.

Both my son and I were in those yards off the 1st tee, he said to me why would anyone live there. Can’t ever sit in your backyard in the summer

  10. played  green valley from the tips In Portsmouth , Struggled off the tee early , two balls OB on 1st three holes, and another OB on 14, but I am Working on the driver, hit it better after initial struggles didn’t score well with a few big numbers, 44/44

40/44 at Pound Ridge. Used a different set of woods (stiff shaft) which made a big difference. Had a blow up +4 on 15 with two penalties but other than that...striped it pretty well. Solid improvement off the tee, some leaked right so have to work on bowing the left wrist some more. I beat my bosses too. Happy with my round especially on a very tough course.

Yeah I wouldn’t think you should be play anything but a stiff shaft, you can also adjust for shaft weight , helps with swing speed and feel the weight  of the head.

You’re right. The more I talk to folks, that’s the next step I should take.

Yeah even if you don’t buy from the fitter, most places will do it for free, they will get you into the right shaft and then you can shop around, many different manufacturers use the same shafts.

Yea. It’s part confidence and part mechanical. I honestly haven’t used it for years on the course. Only on the range. I can get a hold of it there sometimes...like 1 out of 5. So it doesn’t give me to confidence to bust it out competitively. 20% chance of a good strike doesn’t exactly get me excited to use it.

Maybe I just haven’t found the right driver that feels good. I’ve only had two. I may finally invest in getting fitted this winter...go from 20% to 30% lol.

    Get fitted, shaft is key

Because I like to keep the ball in play and not have to take a penalty stroke. I prefer to score well then be a wannabe big shot.

Why carry a driver then if your not gonna hit it.  MY point is if your out playing with nothing on the line why not hit it, play a couple of balls and hit the driver with one of them but count the other one for your score. My feeling is you have to practice with the club to become proficient with it. It’s all good.

So with all the dry weather in June then bunch of rain caused a mold issue on part of our lawn, which killed it. I remember a few weeks ago noticing the blades of grass were black. Didn't think much of it as it rubbed off pretty easily. On the news this morning they had a report about lots of lawns experiencing this problem. Good to know it's not just our lawn but it's one more death blow to the yard

Such bad luck, I am one to never give up, but if I were you I would stop plowing $$ into that lawn
