2025 Spring/Summer Mountain Thread
Tony Sisk replied to Maggie Valley Steve's topic in Southeastern States
I really don't understand the image. So, most of the Upstate and all of Western NC are colored yellow, meaning "Slight" Risk. Yet, the description says that the circled area "WILL SEE" especially large hail. Wouldn't that mean that they are under a High Risk? Or maybe it mean all of the area is under a slight risk for hail, but if it does hail in the circled area, it will be large hail. See why I'm confused? -
February 19-20 Major Winter Storm Threat
Tony Sisk replied to NorthHillsWx's topic in Southeastern States
Wednesday A chance of rain and snow before 11am, then snow likely between 11am and 3pm, then a chance of rain and snow after 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 39. East northeast wind 8 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. Wednesday Night A slight chance of snow before 7pm, then a slight chance of rain between 7pm and 8pm, then a slight chance of snow after 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. East northeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 20%. The above is from GSP. So my house. Raine and Snow...to rain...then rain and snow again. Then it stops awhile....then snow...to rain...back to snow. -

It truly is amazing how often I-85 is the cutoff.

Been in SC for 61 years, never knew we had a Modoc! Super Cool neighbor!!
-
I'm pretty sure WYFF and FoxCarolina radars are working.

My only concern would be...once the atmosphere gets saturated....will the precip already moved south and east. That goes for my neck of the woods in the Upstate of SC as well.

beautiful!

just look at the radar. There is decent "moisture" moving into south Alabama along I-65, and none of that is hitting the ground. This is a very stubborn, cold and dry, artic airmass.
-
there is not enough moisture.

In Australia? We really are snake bit in Upstate SC!

It’s about go time to just look at radar and out the window. Models aren’t needed.

2024-2025 Fall/Winter Mountain Thread

Radar is not doing a good job picking up either. I believe that is a testament to how strong these winds are. Seeing people skiing at Beech Mountain…got to be troopers! -
This is a problem in everything now. News, Politics, Religion…you name it. Everything is sensationalized to fit whatever narrative they want to present. It’s toxic. My wife swears Social Media is the Anti-Christ!
