Finally woke up to a decent snow rate but I can hear sleet mixing in
-
Transitioned to some very light snow now, coating from the burst of sleet
-
Starting as some light sleet right now
-
Either way looks like an impactful AM commute, if it’s 4” and then sleet or 8” and sleet it’s going to be brutal on the roads regardless

My brush was meteorological fame was running into Brian Lappis at Big Y. He wouldn't give me a straight answer as to how much snow we were going in the storm coming that night.
Lol.. always fun running in local mets, I helped a friend complete a landscaping job for a CT broadcast met in the next town over, great guy down to earth even gave us some beer s

One of these seasons, a 2000-2001 or 2007-2008 order will be restored and my god, I will revel.
If 2000-01 knocks here I’ll answer gladly, 2/5/01 was one of my best storms ever here

Good news keeps rolling in these days. My wife is a medical receptionist, and her insurance is great, and cheap. We pay about $73 per pay for myself and her.
Her company is ending its partnership with their hospital affiliate. Insurance Bi weekly premium is staying $73, but there are now co pays and a $1000 yearly deductible. And of course, there will be no raise to compensate for this.
Basically, they just got porked.
That’s still a good value these days. Monthly premium for our Anthem plan we offer at work is $1100 per month for a couple with a $6000 per year deductible, we pay 50% of premium for but it’s still a big cost for the employees.

BDL is bad as well. WNE and ENY FTL so far this winter, especially the valleys that don't cash in much on any upslope and lake streamers etc.

I love snowmobiling, we owned 2 growing up as a kid and went fairly regularly. But it might be the biggest waste of time and money hobby going in this part of the country.
My dad loved to snowmobile too, but he said the day he sold them was probably his best day as a snowmobile owner, given the amount of time and effort for such a short season. Not to mention the $$
I’m selling my 05 Polaris Friday, haven’t ridden seriously for 7 years for more than a quick rip around town in a snowstorm…snowplowing, marriage and a toddler, and another on the way will make it even harder going forward. It was fun but it’s not cheap especially with lodging, etc. Maybe when the kids get older I’ll reinvest, until then I’ll enjoy the jet ski instead on the lake in the summer.

Plenty of police departments hiring up here, CT State Police is experiencing a mass retirement this year too, well paying jobs to be had and more snow then nyc

Best growth and rates of the storm so far, this is probably our shot for 6-10

Does the nws hedge on the conservative side? They are still saying 6-8 inches on their map for Torrington but everyone else’s maps give us way more.
What’s the time stamp on the map? Could be the update from yesterday still
