  1. Thanks guys, the bitternut one is so beautiful and an awesome shade tree. The shagbark is straight as an arrow and at least 80 to 100 feet tall but drops nutz like friggin crazy and they hurt and cover the driveway. The pignut doesnt drop until late.
  2. Mr T can you help me out, are these the same type of hickory tree. First is nut on the left, second is nut on the right
  3. Oh man they are brutal. They howl a lot here. Neighbor lost a chicken to a fisher cat during the day when he was letting them free range, killed it and left it.
  4. This garden runs 100 feet along the Eastern edge of the property. Last 5 years I mulched the beds but this year I just let it grow. We have mint to the right and other plants like Hosta but the high growing weed in the back I have no idea what it is. I kept the chain link fence and attached the wooden one to it because I was afraid of blow down. The last thing I want is to lose a dog, ours or fosters. There are a lot of coyotes here too. It may not look great inside but there safety is paramount. 450 feet up so far but I had 175 left when my back blew out. Friends and Family are going to finish it once it cools. Anyways I am pleased with the garden. Also have a raised bed 12 by 12 of herbs and vegetables and I heavily weed that.
  5. Cool, nice looking weeds are nice looking
  6. They make nice ground cover. I used to mow this area near the road but let it grow this year. I have become more concious of local wild flowers, instead of mulch. I trim weeds out and let ground cover fill in. Some areas have just grass that I trim.
  7. I did not plant these and have no Petunias, just grew this year in a bed I let wild stuff grow. Never saw then before
  8. Ground cover and everywhere. I trim it back near the lawn but it grows like crazy everywhere else. Very pretty in full sun. Tiny looks like lupines but very tiny flowers. They stay purple almost all summer too
  9. Ok flower experts need ID help on these two wild flowers that grow here.
  10. I cut down and removed 4 Rhodys on the shade side of the house as it created a wet mold situation, opened it up nicely. The Hostas are flowering now.
  11. Thanks I have the same issue, Looks like I need phosphorus or bone meal added to the soil, only two flowers this year
  12. Stopped using mulch and let local wild flowers take over, lots of hosta, morning glory along with a mixture of plants. I weed and trim as needed. Pretty happy with the result.
  13. After 228 days it’s over. BTV pic
  14. Nose helicopters everywhere this year. Nary a Caterpillar but a shit ton of moths when the outside light is on. My friend in Westerly said his beech leaves are under full attack by a tiny yellow green worm, don't know what it is myself
  15. I remember my Dad planting a Japanese Maple when I was 3, it was about 3 foot tall. 59 years later it is 30 feet tall and beautiful. A favorite climbing tree from me to the grandkids. Sadly not in our family anymore but oh the tails that tree could tell.
  16. Theres a hillside lawn on 164 Preston Ct with Trump cut in it, big improvement over the former Red Sox cut he had
