I think a lot. That's a stock trade i've been in/out of the past few weeks with Frontline Ltd. They have to store massive amts of oil in tankers at this point. -

Oil ($WTIC) retesting recent multi-decade lows ($19.87/bbl). And this after an OPEC+ production cut. Unbelievable. Global Demand has been demolished. -

I agree with you! Believe me, I don't aim to defend Trump. I think he's uniquely unqualified to be POTUS esp at a time like this. He's flat out dangerous and I'd vote to have him removed via Article XXV, tomorrow. -

The Russkys have been f*cking with US politics since long before either of us were born. If you really want to see Russian interference, look at what went on post WWII and into the 1960s with the spying and funding of radical seditionist groups in the US and Western Europe. I don't doubt that Putin was trying to help Trump get elected but the evidence is scant and the cited smoking gun of something like $10M spent on Facebook ads is absolutely laughable as evidence of anything but a waste of money in a campaign that spent $1T. The US Govt (nor anyone else) has yet to provide a speck of hard evidence that the hacker groups that humiliated the DNC and Clinton campaign were actually tied to Moscow. It's speculated, and likely true IMO, but completely unproven and circumstantial - not unlike most of the Right Wing dot-connecting conspiracies floating around since Trump started campaigning. Russiagate was an excuse cooked up by Robbie Mook and the Clintonistas in the DNC to deflect blame for running a sh!try campaign (not unlike what trump is doing with China now). Its an old trick and frankly, transparent. This isn't that hard. -

To amplify on what Buffalo said...one of the alternative ways the Fed can create "money" is by essentially swapping assets from Banks and providing them "cash" in return. All done electronically of course via balance sheet swaps. It does get hideously complicated but that's the essence of Quantitative Easing. So, the Fed has done this to the tune of $2+Trillion in the past two weeks. It's a staggering amount and they plan more. Some of the more objectionable parts are giving an institution money for their bonds at par value when they are under par in the open market. NO losses incurred by banks...the Fed keeps possession of these bonds on their balance sheet and can hold them indefinately, ala 2008/09, QE etc. If losses are incurred in unloading them back into the market later, guess who's on the hook for it? The US Treasury, which is us. It's highly inflationary long term although short term deflationary pressures are immense (economy in tank, noone spending). It is also estimated that based on current trajectories, the Fed will own something like 75% of the entire US Bond market soon...not unlike the Bank of Japan. What you have then is no longer really a free market. But hell, since 2009 that's been the case. Why do you think interest rates are so low? One word: Fed -

Well, the beauty of Democracy is right to choose. And not just from two criminal enterprises. The fact that we have a bicameral govt doesn't mean we have to have just 2 main political parties. It's worked out that way but frankly both are failing in ways too numerous to get into here. From my perspective, I don't think they're fixable and frankly both have lost touch with the Center. I'd love to see a 3rd centrist party emerge with the GOP and Democrats now fully hijacked by their lunatic bases...its getting a bit more likely. A lot of people are fed up with their HS games that pass for policy. Crises have a nasty way of shedding light on failure. Of course anybreal change will be hard because the GOP and Dems have ensconced themselves into engrained corruption via lack of term limits and...money. They aren't about to easily allow themselves to be muscled out either...so enjoy the stupidity! -

I just saw where Cuomo announced that NY will be sending ventilators to other states as needed due to a large oversupply...after all the screeching about needing 30,000 of them in NY alone and the back n forth between him (and others) and Trump...this seems almost comical. Though...it does beg the question as to exactly how much credence we put into Public Health officials and the models they have been pointing to, which have been pretty aggressively over estimating damn near everything. Though, i don't actually place blame there entirely...the fact that we (and other nations) had no plan, hadn't thought about this eventuality ahead of time, weren't prepared at all, leads everyone in charge to panic instead of implementing a coherent response... -

Just saw on Twatter that a coalition of Sheriff's in Michigan issued a statement that they would NOT be strictly enforcing Whitmer's Executive Orders...the rebellion is on! LOL. She is a doofus, i have to say. -

My guess is that part of what set them off was Gov Whitmer's prohibiition was the banning on buying seeds for plants, veggies. I don't know if it extended to starter plants or whether it has since been revised...because it really made no sense at all. In fact, it's the exact opposite of what we would want should there be food supply concerns... -

NYG gon draft an OL...prob not a bad plan as at present we need a track star QB to keep him upright...though I'd rather have a game changer Defenselive lineman, like Chase Young. -

What if you can't buy one? LOL. Make one? I failed Arts n Crafts in HS. I don't wear one on my daily walks as it's fairly sparse amt of houses in my area and it would be absurd. Though, it wouldn't surprise me to be accosted by one the local Stasi or Hitler Jugend wannabe's to bark at me someday. -

We don't have the facemask while shopping mandate here although i was out to grocery store yesterday and i'd say at least half to 3/4ths were wearing one. I wore one but no gloves as i gave my good ones to someone that might be at more risk going out. So all i have left are the heavy duty ones you use for scrubbing stuff. I've used those once but if i'm just going in and out of a store and not handling much then...meh. Just don't touch your mouth/nose/eyes until you can wash. Virus on skin , esp hands, is not an issue (barring a cut or abrasion). -

RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA. Still? Biden is being maligned somewhat unfairly (IMO), but the Dems spent the last 3 years in an unprecedented frenzy on Rump. Real whack job stuff and never let up. You had to know this was coming. Especially with Biden, who's shaky and got skeletons...I mean face it, he's a really bizarre dude in his own way. Dems better get Cuomo going somehow...or else. I'll vote for Cuomo at this point but not the other two turds. Its NY though, so one's individual POTUS vote doesn't actually matter. -

Down there I could believe it. Up here should be in 2-4 weeks. Not to trivialize, and there's risk if not reopened smartly but It's just not bad enough here to keep it all on current lockdown in most of upstate... -

Was some of that the "recount" in NYC area? I just scanned the headline but I caught where a bunch of deaths were restated as Covid-19. Just wondering. -

That could be correct in some form, depending on the progress of treatments and a vaccine. I'm 100% certain there will be increased focus on cleanliness and staying home when sick etc. We still don't know what the true infection rate is, therefore we are still flying blind on Case Fatality Rates and so much more. We need more testing ASAP including antibody testing. Noone can properly assess risk with limited or no data...and that's basically where we are at. In 1918/19 the world was a different place... -

I do agree that internet / electronic options have made certain work functions more efficient and productive. As an engineer I can attest to this. However, I lived through the 1970s, 80s and yes, TV's are nicer today and relatively less costly but that's qualitative...not real standard of living...which amounts to having disposable income. Everyone lives the sort of life they want differently. If you want to measure "living standards" and inflation by the way the BLS or Fed does (using hedonic adjustments and substitution methods), then fine, its an arguable point. You are also correct about mortgages. However, as we know, that's due to the artificial influences of the Federal Reserve Bank pinning interest rates low - and now essentially buying up the Bond market. If rates normalied as in a capitalist economic system, to say 7%, say goodbye to the auto industry and R/E. Noone is buying those at 7% at todays prices, while making 1990s level relative income. In essense, the whole thing has become an artificial construct. -

You are right about that point IMO but...the real problem is the income disparity that has developed. The 1%, or 0.1%, whomever one wishes to pick on, do spend different but the problem is that wages have not kept pace with inflation and taxation increases for the rest of us. You could confiscate the wealth of the 1% and distribute it to "the masses" and the inflation effect would be trivial compared to what the Congress and Fed are doing now. The Fed just created $2.6T in money supply out of thin air. Between that, what Congress has authorized and other Fed actions, we are talking several Trillion in money supply expansion. People can't even get their brains around the size of a trillion dollars (hint: its a stack of $1,000 bills stacked face to face for about 150 miles - or like driving from Central Park NY to Trention NJ). Now that is inflationary. Which is why 25% of my trading account is in Gold and Gold Stocks. It got hit early on due to margin calls but it's predictably taking off now. -

Given that pandemics like this appear to be once in 100 year type events, not sure that the "mothballed" preparedness is entirely workable but some parts of it might be. I'm going to guess that some PPE has a "shelf life" associated with it (hell my hardhat does - which seems a bit absurd). You can't have special buildings set aside for this either...they need constant maintenance and such or turn into moldy death traps. I think what this event has exposed is that noone was really prepared mentally or with a real plan, as to what to do. Hence, panic, when a bunch of academics show up with what appear to be overly pessimistic models and leaders are left with little choice but to overreact, in part out of genuine concern and in part due to not wanting to be accused of "killing people"...by the usual suspects. There have been no shortage of think tanks and studies that have been warning of our unpreparedness but none of that registered with the public or decision makers. -

What studies is that based on? Or were you just be imprecise? I agree that antibody testing needs to be rolled out. But that's a pipe dream when we still have to ration actual virus tests...
