  1. Ended up just shy of 3” snow and sleet. Surprisingly the zr did materialize last evening and just under .25 ice. When the winds came in lost power for about 10 hours. It’s like concrete outside right now lol. Sorry for those in the Carolina’s who sort of got shafted. After a two year snow drought I was very pleased with the storm for mby

Free information for you guys up in NC.  The radar looks robust, but this is a fine drizzle back in Georgia.  No way we get to 3/8" of ZR.  moisture looks good on radar but whats hitting the ground is not impressive at all.

I’ll second that. It looks good but there is no heavy precip falling just a light frz rain/mist. I will be surprised if mby even gets .10” of ice at this rate

topped out a 2.25 inches here in Dahlonega GA.  all snow from just before 8am till sometime after lunch, then sleet, now freezing rain.  big flakes at times.  I saw a graphic that looks like south of I-20 may have been a good place to be.  wasn't it the icon that was showing something like that yesterday?  All in all I'm very pleased.  we didn't score big, but, a LOT of people got in the game.  Seems untreated roads are going to be un-navigable in the morning.  And looks like the NAM nailed the warm nose, for the most part.

Pretty similar here - finally went from sleet to frz rain here as well. I’m happy with the storm for mby. The snow this morning was pretty heavy for a while. Glad to break the 2 year no-snow streak for sure

After seeing the 12Z NAM verifying 4F too warm at DFW this morning, knowing this would likely be biggest ATL area winter storm since 2014, and knowing I had a place to stay, the weenie in me decided to come to ATL area and take a chance it won’t be mainly a damaging major icestorm where I’ll be. Hoping mainly snow and sleet. I’ll be in a more favorable spot thermalwise than downtown as I’ll be in N Gwinnett County between Mall of GA and Lawrenceville (~40 miles NE of ATL itself).

I stopped for a break but wanted to note the many power trucks on I-16 heading W toward the winter storm warned area. Also, I saw numerous trees down on the sides through the 50 miles between Metter and Dublin resulting from Hurricane Helene. Never seen anything like it before!

Yay! I would have absolutely done the same thing lol. Looks to be the biggest se winter storm in a long time and you would have regretted missing it.

fortunately I am one of the “weird” ones who enjoys a good ice storm. So a thump of snow and then ice will be fine. A

obviously more snow is better but the infamous 1” one a lot of us refer to was a site to behold.  Growing up in ne ga most storms like this are snow to ice so it doesn’t surprise me.

I hope you get clobbered where you are staying lol

Id like to think imby there won't be a lot of mixing issues during the last half but todays trends have me thinking it def will. Still time to reverse the trend and we got happy hour Nam this afternoon

Same - however based on past history I wouldn’t be surprised - and am sort of expecting, some mixing in ne ga. Looking like a pretty classic I85 and it’s rare not to mix around here. Hopefully can stay mostly snow for all of us. Sometimes the mix is after a decent amount of snow fortunately. I am just glad we finally appear to be heading for a SE winter snow. It’s been 2 years ugh

  6. My office is in clarkesville ga. Tornado warning popped up on phones and the sirens went off (around 3ish). Was super dark and the clouds were swirling. Radar had classic hook on it. Not sure if we saw a funnel but there were reports of one - then the wind and rain hit and almost instantly flooded the road. Entire town lost power.  If this is what happens again tomorrow going to be wild

  7. This could be a wild couple of days. The rain amounts are pretty insane - it’s been a while since anything like that here. I want to say Ivan or Katrina gave mby that kind of rain. Even if you cut back on the numbers it is still a ton of rain

After Irma showed that our area could get really strong winds here, with this storm, depending on the exact track and how strong its gets before making landfall, it could be very windy. A lot of the models sometimes show it to the east,  the the latest “official” track puts eastern ga,  ne ga, western sc up to western nc on the eastern side of the storm.
definitely keeping my phone charged up starting thur.

I think the wedge boundary may be protecting us from the higher winds for now at least.

I have been wondering about that.  honestly, there has been almost no wind here so far.  a few gusts but I haven't noticed any wind the last couple of hours

however we have had a ton of rain - all the streams are out of their banks and standing water at a lot of intersections.  rain has really lightened up the last 30 min or so

Just got home from GA. Not sure how much snow we actually got but had to be at least an inch. Have that much still left in the shade.

HRRR has a decent amount of wraparound even into GA tomorrow night.

I noticed that too - looks very decent. At this point after last years snow drought I will take anything
