  1. Yeah... that is the best way, and to do it outdoors, but really hard to do in a stage production...or in a wind ensemble, etc...
  2. Today, we had to endure a similar meeting, but since it was online, I could multitask and get some work done. This would not work (and would be frowned on) in a large setting.
  3. Some more... again, this was early on, which is why I was wondering about newer studies... https://academic.oup.com/cid/advance-article/doi/10.1093/cid/ciaa1241/5908276 https://www.lunduniversity.lu.se/article/could-singing-spread-covid-19
  4. This is a collection of studies referenced... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7808728/
  5. Yep. Infected people expelling lots of viruses no bueno. There was an early (like March 2020) case in Seattle where a bunch of choir members all got the 'vid at a rehearsal. A couple died. This lead to research... I will see if I can drag some up
  6. I do hope my staff meeting, etc can continue online... I hated gathering with everyone (70+) people and basically watching a Powerpoint or some such nonsense. Talk about a lack of productivity.
  7. Any new science related to singing and Covid? We have a teenage daughter who is a theater/performance arts bug. This has been really rough on her
  8. Lots of people still want the vibe of living in a city. Once the initial shock of the pandemic had receded living there continued to look attractive for some.
  9. That’s true. I hate that game but it makes sense for them to do so I miss half gallons of ice cream.
  10. Is that considered a big loss for them? I honestly have no idea. To me it’s obviously a lot of $$$ but for the VT it is under 10% of their annual avg. Is it much worse than a bad snow year?
  11. We could go into a huge discussion about how Big Food definitely wants people eating less healthy and in bigger quantities than ever. What we consume as Americans (I’m guilty here) is obscene. Not to mention unsustainable. And now I’m craving steak.
  12. And my apologies to losetoa6.... I always read his/her screen name as "Lose-a-toe"...
  13. Another option is like what my building is doing. For parents who want kids home (for the remainder of this school year), a set of teachers is teaching them exclusively. I will have all of my kids in person (right now I have half at a time...splitting the week) with none of my kids remote. In the fall, I expect 100% of the kids to be either in the building or in some other type of program... there have been online schools for a while...maybe those that want to stay remote join those? I got so excited when I had some of my lab tables returned to my room today...even though hands on labs will be near impossible with 28 kids in the room. Anyway, lunch over...back to work
  14. March and April are reversing those trends.. in Mass, all elementary are 5 days a week starting this week (my hometown has been 5 days a week since the start of the school year). Middle schools and HS by April 28
  15. I worked from home for a little bit over the winter. It was awful for me. Today is the second to last "full remote" day for my district. (4 days with kids in the building,1 with kids at home) It sucks so much. I so prefer the kids in person. I find it pretty close to double the work (we are doing hybrid) - preparing for both in person and at home kids sucks.
  16. Anyway, just saw a brilliant sunset. Back to work
  17. The only thing I have not really been doing differenly is dining indoors in restaurants. Not that I did much before anyway. I rarely fly. Wasn't planning to for last year or this year regardless of Covid. I wasn't too worried about air travel once I read up about it more. I skied, went to the beach, hiked, etc. as usual. Rented our local mom and pop theater out a few times.
  18. Sorry... my internet just burped. I really expected (as of March/April last year) that schools would more or less be open as usual in the fall of 2020... I'm glad we got some of our students back in late fall, and then again later this winter. My wife's school has kids back in erson for the most part since early October. The has a couple of weeks of full remote during the January peak, but mostly all of her kids are there.
  19. I never thought it would be a two week situation. Didn't think a year either, but here we are. Almost everyone wants to return to normal. Some are definately profiting off of this, but it sure as hell isn't me. We are almost there, despite many obstacles that have been placed in our way (both natural and man made). If people had ignored this whole thing the cost in lives would have been greater that the 570,000 Americans we have already lost. If you can argue against that I don't know what to say.
  20. I really don't think it will happen other than for cruise lines...and then only for a little while. I could be wrong
  21. Lol. I did personally thank many grocery and other retail workers, as well as delivery drivers (gave them gift cards) and tipped bigly at take out places. I gave extra to my barber and the lady that helps with our dog. I have not hired a plumber, electrician, or other tradesman since this began but I thank you for working during this. We are better together than arguing. Stay safe!
  22. And for those refusing to get the vax (which is fine. I get it) I hope you realize that those of us who are getting vaccinated are helping to end this. You’re welcome.
  23. It’s a wonder how some even get out of bed each day. So many out to get them.
  24. Everyone has a vaccination record going into kindergarten. It keeps going for years. And I would not be shocked if your phone knew
