Were obv at the point where you just go chance pops. But at least BOX has the right idea with snow in the zones as the main ptype. It's not like i use it for anything i just had some spare time and figure id read the AFDs. BOX AFD 10/10, OKX AFD :axe:/10

Virtually everyone is saying rain/snow coast right now. OKX seems in line with that thinking at this time range. You're splitting hairs on a D6 forecast that they may have just kept the default grids without wasting any time tweaking something that's going to change a bunch of times anyway.

There haven't been that many new additions to this community since the EasternWX days... is it possible some of us are aging out of winter?

I think so. They should just get it over with and move to Florida. CoC, outdoor dining, and t-shirts year round!

Yeah it’s more seasonable but I didn’t have the normals readily available to say one way or another.  And maybe I’m looking at it as we already had highs in the 20s which is skewing my sense of normal... but I would assume those lows shown there would result in any daily as being above normal.

Its closer to normal though for sure.

Looks like last year on this date the max/min was 28/23, lol.  I think recent cold November’s are skewing my view too.

Yeah last year at this time was cold. 30s for highs even in CT. Nice little 40 degree difference from a year ago. Normals at MVL are 43-46/26-28 during that period. The chart would yield 4 warm days, 3 cool ones with a +1 departure from the week beginning Thursday.

In PA, this was the first election that mail-in ballots were opened to every single voter as an option. It is disingenuous to say that this has always been standard practice for a wide variety of voters. The number of people in these states who voted by mail has historically been a tiny fraction who were mostly military.

But the fact of the matter is you still have to go through the application process. The only thing that has changed this year is some states mailed applications to every registered voter and/or made Covid-19 a valid reason to request an absentee ballot in states that require an excuse (Connecticut is one such state). There's no issue with mail ballots or voter fraud in general. This has been studied to death. You will consume more parts per million of cockroach in your food today than there are fraudulent ballots being cast.

There are enormously more of them now, and they are not the same thing as absentee ballots, which you need to request. Many people get this mixed up.

You're talking about universal mail in ballots where they send every registered voter a ballot automatically. There are only a handful of states, mainly out west where population is sparse, that have the ability to conduct their elections entirely by mail ballot. Absentee ballots, which you must request, are mailed in as well. They are both mail ballots in that they need to be mailed back. 80% of states have a mail (absentee) ballot system that works the same way as Florida's which Trump promoted as a safe and secure way to vote as he did. The insecurity of mail ballots is a fiction ginned up for this election. The states that have been doing universal mail ballots have done so with no problem for decades, and the rest of the states have done it the absentee way since the Civil War.

There is not two parties, there is one party,  the fundraising party.

There is only one real party - the republican party. Then there's this other group of disorganized feckless politicians who call themselves democrats who literally don't know what day of the week it is much less formulate coherent political strategy.

Still baffles me we sent a men to the moon with the equivalent of a wire wrapped 4 k Commodore computer over 50 years ago and we cant keep track of voters and tally an election in 2020.

Because like pandemic response, we have 50 different governments, all doing their own thing. If we had one uniform system across the country, like every other country in the world, this wouldn't be such a mess every other November.

From May 9th to October 30th. Pretty short season it's been for some.

Was thinking about that yesterday when it became apparent this was a real possibility for a lot of people, even on the shoreline.

Watches up by PM for all of CT. Warnings tomorrow. I can hear the salting trucks already prepping.

It's not real until Ryan throws up the first alert icon on his extended forecast.

  9. Are there places that are still closed? Everything in Connecticut seems like it has been open for months now. Where is it that people can't go? I know bars are the one thing that we're keeping closed until there's a vaccine, but those places started dying out when swipe right became a thing.

    We want

The state collects no personal or corporate income tax, and it has one of the nation's lowest sales tax rates

it also takes in far more in federal dollars per capita than places like CT (which is dead last), MA, NY, and NJ. Pretty easy to have low/no taxes in some states when a big chunk of your budget is paid for by federal dollars. While good and efficient governance is important, it is also important to consider the full accounting as every state has to pay for stuff. In CT, on a per capita basis, we pay $4k more per year in federal taxes than we get back. The average person in CT pays about $3-4k per year in state income taxes, so imagine if we were able to keep some of our tax dollars home instead of sending them off to DC to be redistributed to places like Wyoming?

Ha it’s true... I also have these memories as a kid of apple picking in legit fall weather and I’m sure it’s selective memory but the past decade it seems like you have the A/C on in the car when you go to get cider donuts and apples .

No, it's true. Look at some northeastern cities' October mean temperatures by decade. October means are up an average of 3 degrees since the '80s. These things likely run in cycles though. For example, a similar pattern existed in the BDL data from the 1910s through 1930s.

So in addition to the beefalo that's been on the loose for the last couple of weeks, now there is an alligator to worry about?

That’s a lot of shift for only one decade added on those dates...

Wait until next July when the 1991-2020 normals are released and the blow torch 2010s replace the '80s. Could see those dates move another 5 days later.
