  1. Ever hear the phrase, “It’s not you, it’s me..”
  2. In the 13 years we’ve been here it’s probably only the 2nd time I’ve gotten our one safe space (a closet) cleared out for sever weather. My daughter (home sick from school) thought it was pretty exciting for a few minutes, getting to huddle in the closet with mom. Totally foreign to her. I’ve always been fascinated with tornadoes, and have been real close a number of times, but I’ve got to say, it’s been kind of nice not having to worry too much about them here in the Carolinas.
  3. I’m not sure how old your wife is, but I bet she’s heard of the Guin storm 1974 The famous super outbreak. I was 6 at the time. I don’t remember that day specifically, but I’m sure I spent the day huddled up somewhere.
  4. I can’t ever remember them cancelling school in my day, but there were days where we basically spent the entire day in the hall. I remember once in 8th grade or so, they sent us to the halls and I got a glimpse out of door, and evil cloud looked to be about 200 ft off the ground, rolling over the football field. Not a twister, but was trying mightily to become one. I did have my mom pick me up from elementary school once in the middle of the day when we lived in Tupelo, cause it was warning after warning. Also in Tupelo spent many nights in the most primitive leaky, dark, spider infested storm shelter, until the the neighbors across the street built a nice, fancy one under ground.
  5. I’ve lived here for around 13 years now. No, never seen a day like this here. now, when I lived in Mississippi, days like this were literally a dime a dozen.
  6. If your mental health hinges on snow, perhaps you should move further north than South Carolina. Dont you love Mack’s “Big Dog”, “Boom”, and “winters over” posts all on the same page? He really should be banned from any model analysis and forecasting. He muddies everything up for people who don’t know anything like myself. He adds NOTHING. He makes Brick look like Joe Bastardi. Glad to see Matt East call him out. How does he skate in that forum?
  7. You are such a goof. Loved Matt calling you out.
  8. What’s you’re shooting percentage? Shaq at the free thrown line? Why so compelled?
  9. If there is any justice, a mega storm rolls through and they can’t play the game.
  10. Hah! I remember Dave Brown. I grew up early in life, in Tupelo. Watched every Saturday morning as well. Jerry The King Lawler, Tojo Yamamoto, and of course, Jim Cornett. Memphis was the epicenter. I was in Louisiana in 1985, so that particular cold wave doesn’t stick out. I remember some very cold spells, and great storms in central MS in the 70’s-80’s. Walked out onto the frozen Ross Barnett Reservoir during one. Not particularly smart.
  11. I meant where do you find individual noaa stations....I’m looking now
  12. How does one calculate WB, because the way I thought you do it, isn’t aligning with what people are posting.
  13. Not gonna get to 32 in my neighborhood... looks like good ol 33
  14. CLT reporting 38d with a 25 dew point. I believe that’s a 33 wb
  15. Yeah that’s gonna be a problem.
  16. Can someone tell me why Charlotte is under WWA? Is that a ‘just in case’? the forecast doesn’t have us below freezing for the next 48hrs.
  17. So we’ve just been put under WWA, but still showing a low for tonight above freezing..why is that?
  18. Where exactly are you? Just light flurries near uptown.
  19. In Charlotte. Drizzle. It’s a mess out there. Just saw an email report of transformer blowing in the neighborhood but I still have power. went to my 24hr storage unit to get sleeping bags, ski clothes,. Entered my access code, gate goes up, I drive though. Immediately after I drove through, the gate stopped 3/4 of the way up, just enough for me to drive through, then started dropping. Dropped and stopped about 1/4 of the way down. Houston, I might have a,problem trying to get back out. Went ahead and got my stuff. Drove back to the gate and it was still stuck and didn’t lift when I drove up. Got out, heard the motor working but gate wasn’t moving. I tried knocking off as much ice as possible, all the while avoiding the 7,000 volt electric wires. Wouldn’t move. Used my ice scraper to physically push the huge gate up. Got it up high enough to drive through and zipped out. Not sure if it ever came back down.... of course I forgot to get some stuff I will need if power goes out...not sure if I’ll try and go back. Sorry if this is inappropriate for this thread...delete if needed. just relaying what a mess we’ve got on our hands here.
  20. Snowing in Elizabeth near uptown Charlotte.... a lot melting on the wet ground, but starting to whiten up.
  21. Ugh...brutal. We’ve toyed with the thought of moving out, but that traffic ...
  22. If you find some corn snow tomorrow please hit me up...my sticks are being waxed at Alpine. I’ll pick them up and meet you...
