started again as that line is collapsing south a bit, imagine this is what it's like to live in a LES area, snow just away from you and actually snowing hard, but you're noda, well not any more

WWA from Aly for tonight/tomorrow morning ice event, calling for a glaze to .10" ... I don't like the ice, I'll take white please instead, or just plain RN will do, funny how they say tenth, and while technically correct, anyone who's worked in machine shop or with very tight tolerance drawings with tell you that's a hundred thousandths and a renth is one ten thou, thought id share

eyeballing about 2" out there, was really ripping good around 4 when I got up and was just a coating, so most of this fell last three hours

talking about 76-77&77-78, in these parts, data from the closest station, we had 90 and 130" respectively, so not so bone dry and cold, and alot of 77-78 came in the span of three weeks iirc, but we just had a fairly dry winter, can't recall the temperature anomalies I'm working on those historical stats, but 18-19 and 19-20 were very low snow totals, and 94-95 was well below average and frigid iirc again, was it 93-94 or 94-95 we had that long cold blast? also remember a pretty epic sleet storm during one of them winters

yeah the usual suspect areas of the valley along RT 8 will have the glaze and spun cars off the highway, seen it so many times, and this year we have a larger population of NY transplants, who seem more permanent and they don't know these spots and drive like it's the van wyck...

we've dropped to 25 here, and dews are right there, so we saturate right away as frozen unless it rushes quicker than expected, not expecting white but zr definitely on the table here

I'd have to concur here also, always hated April, working construction really makes you hate it that much more, especially on new construction sites, where there's 2 x 12s planking in and out of the house

I'd have to agree here also, depends on if you're a snow pack or snow accumulation type person, plus the festive nature and all... also, I'll continue to live vicariously through the forum here as I've been a member since the eastern days, although I've never met anyone here in person, almost like I know you all as some weather family, which I mostly check in during winter, funny how that goes

somewhere between lafayette and ball ground, depending on what I can find for land, but that seems to be the sweet spot for commute, community, etc. plant is in kennesaw another in acworth, so about an hour north of there is far enough, yeah some really nice area N Georgia, especially near the mountains

yeah, San Diego was what I was referring to as same daily forecast, but I've been keeping my eyes on the weather in the areas I've been looking to plant flag, and it's been as low as cold as mid 30s, and that I was told is about as cold as it gets, minus the occasional freak artic blast to the gulf, but, next week will tickle 70, so I'm sure you can probably grow palm there if protected when it does get that cold... I'm looking forward to severe season for sure though there.

don't think I can handle the same forecast every day of the year, and from what I've looked into winter lasts about 6 hours there, one good thing is the growing season is longer, so there's that, me being the only one of my family who actually enjoys deep winter, will take some adjustments, but getting away from the northeast for other reasons outweigh the weather aspect... plus, there's other weather events there and visits are always going to happen... anyway wishes for a white christmas, seems a while since one, fresh one anyway.

95-96 seemed to have a lot of those that broke just right it seems, what we'd give for another season like that, considering this may well be my last winter in NE, took a job in N Georgia, so, won't be seeing much snow there I'd reckon

anyone remember the year, early 2000's, where we had a similar storm as what we are currently looking at, very tight gradient of frozen to sleet then rain, I wanna say 01, but I'm sure someone on here has that analog in memory, believe there was even thunder snow in that one as well. would be nice to at least wake up to snow on Xmas morning for the kids anyway, most promising look I've seen so far, hope it doesn't get suppressed to far south

I'm just fine with dry and warm and cold and wintry, rather than warm and rain and cold and dry, unless we're going for snowpack records, in which case I'm all for prolonged cold, but prolonged cold leads to high heat bills so I'm good with that too... anyway prognosis looking more favorable for next week it seems...

so, looking like we'll be relocating to North Georgia in the near future, gonna definitely miss the winter here, but as far as boring weather goes, minus the cane and tropical season, florida has some of the most boring predictable weather I've seen outside of San Diego, one can set a watch by it.

kinda bummed I missed the first measurable... but it was 85 today so there's that...work not vacation makes it less enjoyable tho

damn! still a ton with just half, the race to get them picked up and bagged before snow cover them until spring... this past spring I had a pile we never got to and it had frozen into 3" of leaf mush, again I'd rather burn or let them compost but we live to close to others so not an option

just did second round of blowing and raking, first 12 bags done, usually get around 30-35 bags to the dump, wish we had a place to just shuffle them to rot, but gotta pick em up, have one maple still hangin tough...hard this year with chicken coop and pen where I used to blow everything, they weren't a fan of the blower...

yeah, gonna stick with the ariens 8/24... they've done us good for over 2 decades with this one and previous one lasted since before and through 78...may be able to salvage mine just haven't had time to get into it yet
