  1. Can’t tell what’s blowing snow and what’s the light snow and diamond dust that’s been falling pretty much all morning. It would SLOWLY be adding up if not for the wind. Temp has been holding steady at 19 even with the sun peaking through and it being past 10 am now.
  2. I’d pay good money for them to never see another snow more than an inch due to their incessant whining. It really makes me only want to stick to this thread and get my mid-long range discussion from the Tennessee Valley sub.
  3. Wind woke me up at 4 and is still brutal out, 19 out there and that wind make it a good morning to linger around inside.
  4. Light snow still falling, took one final measurement for the night of 8” (I’m figuring we had about 9” total factoring In some compaction from the hour of sleet but I’ll confirm in the morning on a board I cleared off post sleet). We’ll see what tomorrow morning and throughout the day holds here with the NWFS.
  5. Backside has been here about 15-30 min, decent rate and dendrite size. It’s pure fluff too.
  6. I’m looking forward to seeing how that plays out. Gonna have to get a new snow shovel for clearing the deck and steps between now and next weekend when we hopefully do this all again.
  7. Slowly and steady drop now that daylight is fading, down to 24. That stuff from TN swings through it should be high ratio.
  8. Went up to the top of the mountain which is the county line, solid 7-8” here. Not really doing anything right now, some real fine light snow. Would be nice to squeeze out another 2” if the backend swings through just right to hit double digits. Of course might get 2” regardless with NWFS.
  9. Time for a walk. Measured 7” after the sleet so probably closer to 8” thus far.
  10. They aren’t fatties anymore but it’s ripping. Think I’ve reached the 8” mark, should have cleaned the deck off before the sleet but wasn’t thinking.
  11. Moderate to heavy snow with big flakes now, wish it would stay like this the next 6 hours haha.
  12. Yep I’ve go to flakes starting to mix back in as it gets heavier.
  13. All sleet here, should switch to snow soon if Maggie is back to snow.
  14. Can hear sleet hitting the window, some flakes mixed in.
  15. Went to town, roads were a mess when I first left but the big plow trucks finally got to 209 when I headed back. Russ Ave in Waynesville was a wreck an an 74 wasn’t too hot either. Had heavy snow driving up into the mountains at the house but that must of been the tail end of this opening act as it’s just flurries now. Whiteout conditions due to wind down low around the pastures with no wind break when I first left. 6-7” readings throughout, 6.5” on my deck rail that is serving as my “official” board. Want to make a run at a foot if this backside stays juices and swings through just right but I think 8-10” looks like a strong possibility at least. 27 over 25.5 currently here.
  16. I know where I’d like to go outside Highlands, but that’s quite a drive from the new place in these conditions.
  17. Consistently measured 5-5.5 on my deck railing and stairs that are the most in the open. Truck is cranked and ready to do some driving around. Might try to trek up to Max Patch.
  18. Absolutely ripping outside now, they ain’t big flakes but it’s putting it down. Reminds me of my ski trips to Snowshoe and Vermont.
  19. Must have been hammering here too like Met said after I posted, looks like it’s closer to 5-6” now.
  20. Well rested and ready for the rest set of the storm. Approaching 4” via the eyeball measurement here in Northern Haywood, 24 degrees and moderate snow.
  21. Got a slick deck with a trace on it, nothing falling from the sky. 30 over 27 for a wet bulb of 29.
  22. Just got back from town with my parents, flurries flying up here with a dusting on the rhodo leaves.
  23. I like where we are sitting, really all of Haywood. Hope our Cruso member can take delight in what looks to be jackpot areas for Haywood, I know it’s probably not the same kind of excitement after the flooding with lots left to clean up and try to get back to life pre-flood.
  24. I’m up on the mountains above where Upper Crabtree/Liner Creek Rd pavement ends, facing WSW right below the ridge line that is the county line. You’ll have to learn me on the mountain names on this side of the county outside of the main ones, but the view from my front porch is a bald/pasture land mountain top so I’m guessing that’s Big Bald.
