Could snow on the ground affect thermals for the short wave in the middle of the week? .

@Holston_River_Rambler or anyone tell me what this feature is that was on the nighttime satellite images? I’m trying a new way to make gifs so forgive me if this doesn’t work. lol Here’s a screenshot of what I’m talking about. .

A buddy of mine in Mt Juliet says it’s snowing there again .

That’s exactly right… we were on the northern fringe of a system that passed to the south of us and we got maybe 3 inches out of it. About an hour later, Northwest flow kicked in and we got three or four more inches out of that. Leading up to that event, the mods were showing anywhere from 4 to 8 inches in East Tennessee. WATE said the reason why they gave their self an A- was because the northwest flow event was a completely separate event that they didn’t know was coming. They made a big social media post and a big deal out of it. At a time, I seriously thought it was a joke. .

WATE gave themselves an A- on a snow storm several years ago when they predicted a couple of inches and it snowed about 6” or so. .

I remember the Christmas Eve Eve storm in 2020 I think. MRX was calling for a couple of inches and we ended up getting 6”-8”. They only recorded 2” because they said that’s how much they had a 5pm when they measured even though they admitted that earlier in the day they had at least double that. .

@Stovepipe did you see the wreck around the corner from you on Browns Gap at Mill Rd? Can’t tell anything about the vehicle. Who ever videoed it said the driver walked away. If you are a part of the Facebook page “what’s up in Halls”, someone posted the video of it on there. Here’s a screenshot. .

My best snow today was not on radar .

Looks like the back edge is moving through Knox Co now. .

Not sure if it’ll make it here and not sure how much it is, but between Nashville and Louisville there’s quite a bit of echoes showing up on radar now .

It looks to me that the snow bands are curving towards the SW for some reason. Is this wind shear or is there a high pressure wrapping the snow around it? Big wreck on 40 just east of 640 headed west. This wreck happened about the same time one of those streamers was on radar in E Knox Co i was talking about. .

I’m just now checking in where I’ve been out for a while but man… looks like you scored pretty big. That looks like 6 to 8 inches at least on that table. .

The “northwest flow” is almost north to south right now. This is really good for Knox County because it eliminates a lot of downsloping we get from the mountains in Morgan and Anderson County when the flow is more traditionally out of the northwest .
