  4. We will be over 1,000 a day by next week. During the 2017-2018 flu season, 80,000 Americans died. Depending on when you start/end the flu season... I didn't even know the 2017-2018 flu season was anything of note until tonight. https://www.statnews.com/2018/09/26/cdc-us-flu-deaths-winter/ Deaths per Day Dec-Feb- 889 per day Nov-Mar- 533 per day Oct-April- 381 per day
  5. @Luke_Mages Heres another from linked in. Well, I’ve got it. I hope my story helps. I hesitated to share this publicly, but if it can help ONE person make the right decision & be safe, it’s worth it. Last week I had a fever, dry cough, fatigue, & shortness of breath. I knew things weren’t right. My doctor recommended I go immediately to the ER. The ER immediately put me in quarantine, started every test you can imagine. They found COVID-19 pneumonia in both lungs, & frighteningly I was in sepsis. I was isolated in the hospital for 5 days. They threw every high powered antibiotic at me, they didn’t work. Finally they tried the ‘experimental’ drugs that many doctors are trying & it pulled me out of sepsis. After 5 days, I stabilized. I’m still fighting it. W everything I’ve got. But things are looking up. I can breathe. PLEASE take this serious. I’m young(ish) ;), healthy (gym 5 days a week, eat healthy, no underlying conditions), & it hit me hard. BUT don’t panic. We can beat this. But beating it means we take it serious. Stay at home if you’re able. Social distance if you can’t. Wash your hands. Be smart. TOGETHER, we can beat this. My family, my friends, my company #isg have been incredible. Supporting, praying some, encouraging all, & they lifted me up throughout this scary situation. #bestrong #together #fightingit
  6. France went from 231 to 365 deaths the last 2 days. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/france/
  7. China has complete control over the internet there. They can easily do information control, especially if no foreigners are allowed into the country.
  8. I don't think I have ever gone to the doctors when I have the flu. So how would that number even be calculated? Doctors see patients with the flu and report it, the same thing is occurring here. There are no other ways to calculate it. If this comes back in the fall I can see millions dying across the world. If it doesn't come back it will likely end up being in the hundreds of thousands. Most doctors and scientists are saying this will be with us for 12-18 months.
  9. Global morality rate: 4.59% US rate: 1.49% So even in the US, this virus is 15 times more deadly than the typical flu that spreads 2-3 times more quickly and has no vaccine. https://www.livescience.com/new-coronavirus-compare-with-flu.html Virus transmission The measure scientists use to determine how easily a virus spreads is known as the "basic reproduction number," or R0 (pronounced R-nought). This is an estimate of the average number of people who catch the virus from a single infected person, Live science previously reported. The flu has an R0 value of about 1.3, according to The New York Times. Researchers are still working to determine the R0 for COVID-19. Preliminary studies have estimated an R0 value for the new coronavirus to be between 2 and 3, according to the JAMA review study published Feb. 28. This means each infected person has spread the virus to an average of 2 to 3 people. It's important to note that R0 is not necessarily a constant number. Estimates can vary by location, depending on such factors as how often people come into contact with each other and the efforts taken to reduce viral spread, Live Science previously reported.
  10. My buddy said 5 new cases at his hospital in Batavia. Their first cases at that hospital so far.
  11. And the oldest population in the USA is in Florida where they were extremely lax with their precautions.
  12. We're 3 weeks behind Italy and they are still peaking. So that would make it seem like we are at least 3-4 weeks away from peaking here.

  14. +569 deaths in Spain in last 24 hours with 4,165 in critical care. They're the next Italy.
  15. @Luke_Mages From NE forum. For dendrite-updating on 31 year old friend of a friend.who was on a ventilator with IV hydroxychloroquine. Transferred to MGH due to seizures and uncontrollable BP. 17. As I already said. You can only base a disease mortality rate on symptoms. Impossible to do otherwise. All diseases throughout history are based on actual reported cases due to symptoms. Why would we change it with this virus?
  18. Iceland’s mass testing finds half of carriers show no symptoms https://english.alarabiya.net/en/features/2020/03/25/Coronavirus-Iceland-s-mass-testing-finds-half-of-carriers-show-no-symptoms?fbclid=IwAR0tN75Gpq_0Cfqw43VxZ2efm3lDfzVPjmDQqbfX07E-tiPXarWNoIqN01A
  19. Yeah this no gym thing is killing me. I don't have a home gym so have been going for a 2-4 mile run each day after work outside.
  20. That 49 year old healthy nurse I posted last night had asthma. I was diagnosed with asthma when I was around 10/11, but haven't had an attack in over a decade. I think I grew out of it, if that's even possible.
  21. Yeah we should honestly only be using CDC numbers. So much false information is spread around at a time like this. The Boston post is worrisome though. If that starts happening in every city due to not having the correct gear, we are going to have some serious issues. My medical professional friends have been reusing their m 95 masks since this all started.
  22. Not sure if anyone has seen this, but it's pretty bad in Boston. 160 medical professionals have the virus, which takes them out of the hospitals helping patients for at least 2 weeks. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/03/26/metro/dozens-boston-hospital-staffers-have-contracted-coronavirus/
