  1. Tech/Infotainment based automotive suppliers. Ill have to link the Crain’s business article. It mentioned talent specifically.
  2. Austin has become a tech meca and is fairly educated. Also theres major rumblings of large NYC Financial firms moving to Florida. https://www.google.com/amp/s/mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSKBN28Y12T
  3. A couple automotive suppliers in the Detroit area just packed up and moved their corporate offices to other states. One being Florida (Tampa) and another being Texas (Austin). Climate, talent pool and taxes are a perk to many strapped companies. Anyhow, this isnt quite virus related but it’s pertinent to this post.
  4. Why did you quarantine after the vaccine? The jab doesn’t make you ‘infectious’.
  5. Well said. It pretty much summed up why working out at a gym is special. Its not just a gym, but a community of like minded people. That is why still gyms exist, even in the era of home gym programs and equipment. Masks have never been worn by the majority at my gym since day one of reopening. Contracting C19 or the common flu is a risk you conjured up upon going. Many people have held off returning until just recently, and its only because of the jab. Things are quickly rolling along to sense of pre covid normalcy. Vaccination rates are increasing and people are more confident of continuing on with how life should be lived. Look no further than any gym parking lot across America, they are jam packed now.
  6. Governor Whitmer MI (D) - She just had her press conference and ‘urged’ a pause on youth sports. Due to incredible social and political pressure, she is leaving it up to the people to enact mitigation. Its a refreshing approach. "To be very clear, these are not orders, mandates or requirements," Whitmer said of her requests to schools, athletes and restaurants. "A year in, we all know what works and this has to be a team effort. We have to do this together. Lives depend on it." - Detroit News. Michigan has been throttling up the vaccination efforts too. Wont be long before hospitalizations trek down. State is moving along. Whitmer took a jab at the Biden Admin. She is pissed about the lack of available J&J doses that the Feds are sending.
  7. On and off T Storms here. Had a few good gusts of wind and crack of thunder. Definitely feels like spring today. Not looking forward to the cool down next week. I find it rather annoying.
  8. And thats where good parenting fills the gap.
  9. Notable outbreaks in corrections facilities amd the state has mandated that all youth sports participants get bi weekly tests. Thats producing a lot of found cases. I suspect these numbers trend down in the next couple of weeks. One thing is for sure, this surge has really jumpstarted the vaccine push by people. Everyone wants the smoothie ASAP.
  10. Just got my vaccination today. Johnson & Johnson FTW. One and done! Looking forward to returning to normal this summer. Ditch this mask and move on. We can do this. Get the Jab!
  11. Memorial Day weather in April. Cant beat this. Definite cool down next week. Although thats relative this time year, as 50s and 60s are “cool”. I do like the later hours of the GFS. Shows another surge of warmth for the region. Anyhow, always cooler by the lake for MBY. Even the UHI for here is tempered in the spring. 75 here and absolutely beautiful!
  12. The availability in Detroit has been getting better. My wife scored hers with a basic search and Im slotted to get the J&J one next week as well.
  13. Cant blame them either. AstraZeneca isn’t held in high regard in the EU. Not mention the tribalism between nations in Europe. The lack of trust is thousands of years in the making.
  14. Europe’s vaccination rollout has been laughable. I count my blessings that Im a US citizen. I spoke with my physician earlier this week about getting the vaccine or not. I had C19 back in NOV and I called to ask if it’s appropriate to wait, or immediately get vaccinated...the answer was interesting. He recommended the J&J vaccine after 9 full months after C19 infection.
  15. Do these lockdowns accomplish much. Other than roiling emotions, creating economic hardship and punting preventive medical procedures. This seems absurd IMO. Only time will tell. Because we will not fully grasp all of this for many years.
  16. One of the many articles on the endemic phase. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2021/02/27/what-if-covid-becomes-endemic.html
  17. Will be interesting to see the CDCs next step. Especially since we’ve entered the endemic phase.
  18. Was at the bar earlier watching the Tigers. Struck up a conversation with a local about COVID. He is reluctant to get the vaccine. I asked him why and he said something the struck me. He basically said that why should he run out and get the vaccine if he is still required to wear a mask, can still infect others and be infected. I didn’t challenge him on his stance but urged him to be careful. The conversation then turned into a mutual rant about the crappy Detroit Lions. Anyhow, theres a lot of vaccine skepticism out there. I know more money is being spent on public health outreach, but its obvious that more can be done.
  19. 33 of 49 reported deaths in Michigan, were tallied by reviewing past death certificates. Not that this stat means much, but it seems to be a common practice and pads/skews the daily counts.
  20. Picked up an inch of snow here last night. Rather depressing for April 1st. Looking forward to the 60s-70s later this week.
  21. There is not much legal immunity for private businesses anymore. Discrimination cases are extremely broad scooped and far reaching. You’d be hard pressed to find a lawyer that wouldn’t jump at an opportunity to win a discrimination case.
  22. There will definitely be legal challenges. Challenging for and against health segregation and denial of services. Will clog the courts for years.
  23. Good luck with that. Friendly reminder. Its is 2021.
