I feel like we are so close to a major winter storm, just can't get that cold air down here!
I think we will get it together eventually just won’t know till a few days out with all this model madness

You've had some decent hits up that way haven't you? I think you'll get a few more
I’ve had a couple of snow days so to say but only around 4 inches total. Now 30 min north of me and west they have had several inches so far. All about elevation I suppose

I feel the best of winter is yet to come. Time will tell

Most guidance is suggesting 2-5" around here. Anyone believe we can achieve that up this way?
Blacksburg has me a inch or under who knows.

I just don't think the models are doing changing at this point. Time will tell.

Is it only me or do the sleet/frz rain issues seem a little odd in this setup? I’ve lived in WNC my whole life and I can’t think of too many times a low in that position had a ton of sleet or frz rain mixing in. Usually just rain or snow and no in between with sharp gradients.
Was thinking samething it’s usually rain or snow it seems but hey it’s 2021 anything is possible

in my opinion we don't need true artic air it is dry and squashes systems. Cold air is good just not true artic air in my opinion. Guess the cold where its said its to cold to snow.

Well got a white ground in mount airy will see what happens next. Sad to say that’s been biggest snow in two years here

3km NAM has warmed for 5 straight runs. At this time yesterday, it had freezing rain down to the NC/SC state line Sun AM and now it is up close to the VA/NC state line. Wouldn’t bet against it either in a warming aloft scenario like this
Well I have a white ground for now will see what tomorrow holds

My guess right now for @Buddy1987 and @Disc would be 6-9" of Snow/Sleet. For my area I'm going with 1-3" of Snow/Sleet , with up to 1/4" of ZR
What am i looking at at this time. northern surry county at va line
-
so who is gonna start making accumulation of snow ice maps
-
